New York’s clueless GOP
NY Post ^ | march 1, 2013

Ever since the American voter gave Mitt Romney a drubbing in the November election, the best minds in Republican circles have been debating how to revive the battered GOP brand.

You might think this would be a special priority for New York City, where Romney captured just 18 percent of the vote. You might think in a sluggish economy, there’s an opening for a party that distinguishes itself from the usual run of candidates vying to out-spend, out-tax and out-regulate their rivals. You might even think conservative and Republican leaders would be looking for ways to make this year’s vital mayoral race a contest of ideas.

You would be wrong.

Take the effort to get Adolfo Carrión — a two-term Democratic Bronx borough president who just finished an undistinguished stint in the Obama administration — onto the Republican ticket.

The GOP is dead in NY.

If they best they can do is raid the other side’s farm bench, they are’t going anywhere. Not in this century.

The best minds? Won’t be found in the GOPe. They don’t seem to understand that conservative positions are appealing to the average man when explained well and adhered to. One can’t out-Dem a Dem.

Kinda hard to single out the NY GOP when the national party believes they lost the election because they did not support Illegal Alien Amnesty....even though they lost by losing the conservative base

Even dumber is that you have some on here that want to continue working w the GOP when they do not want conservatives

Dead in New York?
It is dead in the entire USSA.

and/or close down their country clubs.

clueless GOP

Redundant.

My dog could beat them at political chess. The lefties think 50 moves ahead. The GOP reacts to each move with no idea what might happen next. They are terrible at "strategerizing."

To borrow from Rush Limbaugh for those living Riolinda a Judas goat is used to lead US sheeples to the slaughter pen . The Republicans were given a chance to use a wedge issue to split up the democratic party and blew it.

Besides being unable to equate Obama’s socialist schemes particularly his energy policy running up the costs on everything and still is thus forcing those with limited incomes to go on the dole. BTW the angle here is to blame the system not the folks using it. Because they have to. But it’s a signature of Rove’s past performances when with Bush. The demo-coms used it because it fell into “heartless Republicans”.
Blaming Obama and explaining that policy in terms those proverbial LIV’s could understand wasn’t even considered. Refusing to attack Obama was based on MSM polling showing his popularity suggesting an intellectual inability by Rove and the GOPES to rejoin any racial charge.

....Does anybody remember what the Democrats did at their 2012 convention ??? First they eliminated any mention of the word GOD...and when they thought twice about doing that they reintroduced the resolution what happened ? They booed God..thrice..That resolution was rammed through just like the Affordable Health Care Act ...That’s a wedge issue within the democrat party.which was not exploited by Roves RINOS and GOPES and the Republicans generally to this day. To properly describe that episode .Its the marriage of the radical and democrat into the hyphenated Demo-Com union.

Was that fact used in any of the material Rove’s RINOS spewed forth during the 2012 Romney or US senate races his group of GOPES (Government Ofthe People Elite Snobs) used on their hit list ? I like using that acronym because it rhymes with dopes.

GOD DENIERS LED BY A CONGENITAL LIAR
ARE REDISTRIBUTE WEALTH INCITERS/
FOR FIRST YOUR MONEY THEN YOUR GUNS
BE DEFENSELESS WHEN THEY COME
FOR TO THEIR GOVERNMENT YOU MUST RUN

It’s time to get government out of Our face
Our religion and and Our pocketbook

(The above is designed to be printed up and passed around your precinct and your friends and neighbors as a (index sized) palmcard. On the face (REVERSE SIDE)or below the slogan you can put the name of the candidate you favor and the election dates...EXCELLENT FOR SLIPPING UNDER WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON CARS PARKED IN KEY PARKING LOTS CHURCHES, RALLY SITES....

What exactly does the Republican party stand for at this point? The GOP needs to identify what it's about, clearly define those core points, and sell itself using those core points. Most of us here voted GOP in the last election, but I would bet that many, if not most of us would have a hard time defining exactly what the GOP stands for.

If you don't define yourself, the other side will define you - which is what has been happening to Republicans for a long time now. For example, instead of the GOP defining itself as the party defending the rights of individuals to ‘economic freedom’ and the ability to achieve on the basis of one’s own efforts - the GOP lets the left define them as the party supporting suppression of workers by rich self-interested business owners. This is just one example, and there are many, many more.

Your right, NJ is Christy, Ohio swings in a breeze, Pa. you just never know, It’s the people, and the democrats are the santa party. When almost 1/2 of the population is in the cart who wants to get out? How can you make a case for lower taxes to voters who pay nothing?

Al D’Amato and George Pataki are two of the primary actors in the demise of the NY GOP.
