State ping lists

FReeper cgk used to maintain a local, state, regional and miscellaneous lists of those who kept ping lists here. That was almost five years ago. cgk hasn't started a thread in four years or made a comment in two years.

I have made a ping list for every state except Rhode Island. It's on my homepage here.

In the two months or so of making it I haven't seen anybody hailing from Rhode Island when I clicked on their screen name.

I compiled screen names mostly from comments on my threads. It's in alphabetical order except NY. That's for my convenience, although it is separate and is identified as such.

Although they are not explicitly labelled, scan the list of screen names about a dozen names from the start of that state's list, if the list is long enough. It becomes fairly obvious.

I started it a while ago with NJ & PA, two of my neighboring states. I gradually expanded it to a few other states.

I have kept the freepers named in cgk's states lists. It starts after my combined microbiology/immunology ping list.

With the pitiful condition of our BS media that ignores so many stories, I thought a list of 48 states, minus NY and RI, that you could copy conveniently would be handy for really important stories. We're on the honor system. It's not for chat. It's for real news or important history in any state as well.

However, I have a current Missouri FReeper bump list. It doesn't have every FReeper in Missouri on it but it has everyone that requested to be on it, started with all registered Missouri FReepers and has the ones taken off that requested to be taken off.

I never opted in but when I enrolled in the Illinois board, I was getting pages and pages of copy and paste messages every day. For the life of me I couldn't figure out how to get off that message board but I did accidentally find out how to change my location to what it is now (The Congo) no spam mile long messages since.

Concerning ping lists, it was my belief that you don't put anybody on one unless they asked to be on it. I am constantly getting on someones ping list and I have only ever asked to be on one.

I asked a poster once (by private mail) to remove me and she refused, saying that everybody who replies on any thread she posts gets put on her list and if I didn't want on her list, to not reply anymore on her posted threads.

She finally removed me after I embarrassed her a few times on threads she posted and pinged me to.

There's just one ping list I want to be on and I'm already on it.

Problem is, you have obsessive posters like seekthetruth who think they alone have the only important information on FR, then spams *every* State message board, not just his/her State of Residence.

Ever notice how one person ruins things for everyone else?

A lot of Freepers don’t want dozens of messages wasting their time every day so they remove their State flag.

You can still fly your state flag and turn off the message board notification and then you’ll never ever get a notice of new messages. You’ll have to periodically check the state board if you are interested in reviewing the messages.

Would help if you added the State Name above each group.

Would also help the Page Formatting if you added a Space behind each semi-colon; that way the lines don’t run the width outside of the window boundaries.

Doubt I’ll use them; P.O.E. and Kid Shelleen run the two lists for PA, so I notify them as necessary. Thanks.
