I used to buy a cup of coffee at McD if I needed to use the bathroom. I might still if the line isn’t too long. The problem is when the street people end up using the restrooms ALL the time, and/or trashing them. We were at a hamburger joint in the city and the manager had to buzz you in to the one restroom. (The other one had been trashed).

As my elderly mom left the restroom, a homeless guy sprinted in behind her almost knocking her over to catch the closing door.

My ‘work’ is on the road and when I have to go, I have to go.
A few minutes one way or the other can lead to ‘disaster’.
I would stop at a gas station, do what I had to do and buy a large coffee.
Used to muse that it was like a vicious cycle, buy coffee, have to stop and use head + buy coffee, have to stop and use head etc etc etc X however far the journey may be....

I remember stopping in the middle of the night and there was a line...I was behind 2 teenagers who were next and was contemplating going to the next facility when one of the kids looked at me, turned to his buddy and said
“Lets go — this man looks like my grandfather does just before having an accident”...they left and I ‘thanked’ them (by the way, 2 Black lads and I am neither Black nor a (young) lad...)

I remember when I was a teenager and you always had to put a coin in the slot in order to open the door to the stall. Wasn’t much but did help pay for the maintenance of the bathrooms. We kids never had any money back then - and as older adults now find ourselves in the same position - so we’d just crawl under the door.

Agreed. I buy something fast like a juice box for one of my kids. It is enough to be a customer, but I don’t have to eat it right then.
