Today, retired Army General H. Norman Schwarzkopf was laid to rest at West Point. The commander of coalition forces in the first Gulf War was 78-years-old when he passed away on Dec. 27 in Tampa, Fla. due to complications from pneumonia. On Thursday, the U.S. Military Academy announced that a memorial service was held in honor of the four-star general who evicted the Iraqi army out of Kuwait in 1990.

An American Warrior in the truest sense. The military needs more Stormin’ Normans and fewer Strollin’ Colins.

The one outstanding feature I remember about this General is that he handled the seditious American media quite well.

78 is too young anymore...we're losing our best....but maybe its in God's plan to take the good ones so they don't have to witness the further destruction of our once proud and good nation....

God bless your General....

Dick Cheney was at the graveside funeral. I didn’t see George Bush there..can’t imagine why he would not want to be there to pay his respects.

I'm not sure that GHWB's health is good enough to travel.

I can certainly imagine Gen. Schwartzkopf feeling rather dismayed at the repeal of DADT, the pending (for all intents and purposes) defeat in Afghanistan, and the complete lack of leadership at the CinC level.

RIP General.

Nobody could give a briefing on the battle situation better than Gen. Schwarzkopf.

Why the 2 month delay to lay him to rest?................................. Backed up. Too many funerals, too little staff. I had a WP friend of mine who died and it took 4 months to get him interred. They can only do so many at a time, its usually very ceremonial.

Gen Schwarzkopf should have been much more celebrated and honored than he was given. A true, brilliant patriot and hero. Unlike Gen. Colon Bowell who was only along for the ride and now rubber stamps anything OblahMao says or does— WIMP.

Maybe something about the Pro-Obama radio ads he made just before the last election... I know when I heard it I had to ask myself, “WTF?”

And for those very reasons, I don’t want to see another picture of Bush and the question “Do you miss me yet?” No, George, we don’t miss you, now that we know more about you. You were a good leader as it applied to 9/11 and its aftermath. But you are not a Conservative. I now understand what Dick Cheney meant in his biography when he stated that he and Bush went in separate directions, after Bush started veering left.

And it’s a tough job aligning the schedules of world leaders, dignataries, scholars, warriors and presidents.
