Gov. Cuomo says Hollywood exempt from strict New York gun control law
foxnews.com ^ | February 28, 2013 | AP

New York sought to combat violence by rushing the nation's toughest gun control measure into law after the Connecticut school shootings that killed 26 people, but the state is now carving out an exemption to make sure movie and TV producers can stage running gun battles on Manhattan streets. ... Hollywood is also a major campaign fundraising stop for New York politicians. ...

He said movies and TV may use fake guns that wouldn't be subject to the new law but the industry wants "certainty." The revised law would allow them to use real weapons without real ammunition.

"There's no reason not to make a change like that to give an industry comfort, especially when it's an industry we want to do business in the state," the governor said.

The law was passed in a flurry of closed-door negotiations, without public hearings or a three-day review required of bills under the state constitution. The measure was debated, passed and signed within hours...

Did he really say that? Clearly, some are more equal than others.

I think I’m going to make a low budget artistic movie in New York City using fake weapons of mass destruction from aliens(also fake, or maybe just use congress) I wonder if como(tose) would allow that as well.

Gov. Cuomo, a Roman Catholic who openly lives with a woman to whom he is not married and endorses the right to eliminate unborn children, says that only police and the military should have guns—except those persons and businesses that might benefit NY financially or politically.

NY’ers, I was just wondering how much more hypocrisy do you need before you throw the bum out?

A: No, his "comfort" quote in not included in yesterday's CBS article. OTOH, the last portion of the following quote was not included in the FoxNews article:
“We spend a lot of money in the state bringing movie production here, post production here. So obviously we would want to facilitate that,” Cuomo said.

Cuomo said the prop firearms [NOTE: real firearms, not replicas] used in films would probably not be classified as an assault weapon.

“But people want certainty and there’s no reason not to make a change like that,” the governor added. “Apparently, they have blanks or they have phony magazines or something.

I feel so much safer knowing actors may play with guns. When ya need a cop, call an actor.

It’s also comforting to know that no actor has ever shot or been shot, or died in the line of acting.

We The People have been lowered to a rank below actors. Cool.

I want to know what Cuomo is smoking in the smoke free State.

Hollywood doesn’t “need” prop firearms. How many do they need to shoot a deer?

They don’t even see the hypocrisy, all they see is the (D) after his name. That’s all he needs.

What a moron. Post production? That's his justification for exempting "the movie industry" (whatever that is) from his boot?

There were a lot of good ones. No mass produced signs either. Many very strongly worded and to the point. Like the guy who listed all the things he is including “police officer” and “criminal.” The latter flatly indicating that he is not and will not comply with the law. I saw at least one MOLON LAVE in there too.

I liked the “Went to bed a law-abiding citizen...woke up a criminal.”

I was thinking it was private citizens at their best, faced with a challenge, and look at all the different ways they met it! Next time I want to have a sign on a pole. Most every place I’ve been w/one have been faced with wind gusts, too; can’t think of a good way around that challenge.

Put it on a flag with a rod pocket at the top (maybe at the bottom too), and have the flag held extended by a fiberglass rod or a curtain rod.

I know what you mean. I took my Mom to the very first Tea Party rally here where strong wind in the spring (and fall and winter) is a constant. I just grabbed the flag and pole we put out on the deck to take with us. A 3’X5’ flag. I had no idea how much sail power 3’X5’ of cloth has. I DO NOW! LOL

TigersEye, the very first Tea Party I took part in was in March 2009, on a very windy day!

The “Commando” Rochester Tea Party

I led the march from the park we were in to the Main St. Bridge over the Genesee River, for a ceremonial tea dump into the river, and wind was really kicking up!

That's great! Good job.

Our first TEA Party was on April 15th '09 in our very small town. Probably about 200 people showed up over the two hour time it took place. Quite a few considering the size of our town.

I thought I was going to have my little bitty ole mother hold the flag while I took pics. It was all I could do to hang on to it! At 81 it was the first protest/demonstration she had ever attended.

My wife trims my pony tail up, once or twice a year. I've been growing mine since '91, but was a longhair in previous iterations going back to the early 70's. When I enlisted in the USAF in '74, I had to stay in regs through '79 when I got discharged.

I get a 404 document not on server error on that link. Probably left something out of the URL. No problem.

I had earlier iterations of long hair in my high school days too. In the late '70s-'80s I was a carpenter and shorter hair seemed a safer-easier style for the work.

My Mom's dental hygienist suggested to me that I donate my hair to Locks Of Love. They make wigs for kids who have cancer. She grows hers out, donates it and grows it out again. A fine idea and something I would certainly support. Better than tossing it in the trash. There was something in her tone that rubbed me the wrong way though.

Next visit, six months later, she brought it up again and pushed it harder with comments about how long hair is a PITA when it gets so long. It isn't to me, when it's in the way I throw it down the back of my shirt. Her attitude really annoyed me that time.

Then my cousin came out here for a visit with his wife. 0bama 2012 sticker on their car. The first thing she said to me was that I should donate my hair to Locks Of Love. She is a nurse so I could see how two health care workers have that in mind. But the bigger connection was that they're both (hygienist and cousin's wife) 0bamaBot libs. The attitude was clear to me; I had something they thought someone else deserved more than I do. When I saw that that was how their minds were ticking it really burned me up.

Don't get me wrong; I couldn't think of a better reason to cut my hair or a better thing to do with it. When I cut it that's where it will go if LoL wants it. Afterward I might even go to a barber and say "high and tight, Marine Corps style." Hasn't been that short since I was 8 yrs old. But to see that attitude of "you should give what you have to someone else" makes me sick. Friggin' liberals can't even wait until I'm shipped off to a camp to start picking over my body and possessions for 'the greater good!'
