Former Surgeon General C. Everett Koop dies at age 96

Koop was a strong role model for those who live in faith but work in science. He held strong beliefs, but didn’t let his emotions hold sway when the data couldn’t back up a hypothesis—which made him all the more credible. The Todd Akins of the world could learn a thing or two from Koop about advancing moral positions without sounding like an ignoramus.

I often joke that all Surgeon Generals should assume the identity of C. Everett Koop—like the Mask of Zorro.

And WHATEVER HAPPENED TO THE HUMAN RACE was made into a movie that was well done. It showed how some Americans today use babies as fashion accessories and take an expedient view of human life from young to old.
