Ex-Sonics player Robert Swift has refused to leave his Seattle home after it was foreclosed on last summer, KOMO News in Seattle reports.
Swift was drafted straight out of high school at age 19. He played three seasons for the Sonics and Thunder before falling out of the NBA, earning ~$11.5 million in salary.
After he flamed out, he became one of the league's most notorious cautionary tales for the dangers of leaping straight from high school to the pros.

All that money and he couldn’t even pay off a house - teenage knucklehead. Before anyone jumps to conclusions, he’s white.

At least he’s young enough to get a new start on life and do it right this time. But this time he’ll have to do it the hard way.
If a person started working at the age of 21, and retired at 65, they’d have to earn $250,000 a year to equal what this kid made in his short NBA career.
The fact that he’s now stone cold broke, and couldn’t even manage to pay off his house, says a lot about ‘a fool and his money...’.
Thankfully, he’ll wear long sleeves to job interviews.

Real hard. His parents shopped around high schools in order to further his career. He got terrible grades. Still got a shot at USC with a scholarship and turned it down. He is going to have to start at the bottom.

I worked with a lot of Japanese nationals at one point, and figured at 5-7, I’d be a “power forward” in Japan, LOL.
For some strange reason, I always thought that the sheriff showed up and the door with the Foreclosure Notice and said, "Son, you are OUT of here!"
My brother coached him for a few years in high school. He was a good kid when I knew him. I don’t think you can ever be prepared for that kind of money and success when you are 19 years old. You need a really strong family behind you looking out for you. Really sad
He's living in a foreclosed home. It's the bank's money and the bank's home, not his.
Sometimes starting at the bottom is the best thing for a young person. Hopefully it will be in this case. If he has to pay for an education now, he’ll appreciate it more than he would have a USC scholarship.
Even if he actually owed 1 million on the home (unlikely since he probably put down more than $0) his payment would only be $4,774 or so a month.
How could he have blown so much of what he earned to not be able to afford that tiny amount?
Even if he earned ZERO interest, and managed to save only 3 Million of the 11 million.. he could of made that payment + taxes for over 50 YEARS!

You are talking the old days I assume ...Average height of 20 something US men is around 5 foot 9 today . Japanese just a shade under 2 inches shorter on average .
