Thanks for thread A.B. Let’s see if Pubbies can hold fast on anything. Like not caving in on Sequester like they are doing with Hagel.

Morning RL,

Stopping in after busy morn, church, singing...realizing I did not tape Meet the Depressed.

Just a quick note, all, and a thanks to AB for doing this thread between Freep shutdowns...wanted to tell y’all how much each and every day I love President Obama.

Yeah.

Of all the evil, worthless politicos that cross my somewhat politically obsessed self, Obama’s the only one who doesn’t lie.

He didn’t lie about who he was the first four years and still he does not lie. Obama, I insert to point out, got an ersatz gubmint health care plan passed, against all odds, against ALL odds, folks, remember Hillary care. He had states electing opposition senators, he had to bribe each and every one, but he not only got it passed, he got RE-ELECTED!

Last weekend he goes golfing with Tiger Woods, stiffs the press...gotta laff at that...well why not? I think if I was Prez and so liked golfing, I’d arrange for a round with Tiger.

Obama, man he doesn’t beat around the bush, he does it and if you don’t like it, then don’t vote for him.

Genius.

On a more subtle change, Obama’s made us boobs out here in la-la land realize the real problem here is the opposition party.

We were so sure that the system would work but the Supreme Court let us down and the electorate was okay with Obama and his lying. What’s wrong with lying? Is lying in public-and not under oath-—a crime? Every time the man speaketh he says the same old thing...tax the rich....the electorate just don’t care. We’ve all been there and done that.

The opposition party is nought but the in power party lite.

Which leads on more than I want to go as my intent here is to suggest y’all admire this man of hypnotic magic and wonder how the country can get around this when there’s no one elected up there to stop the man.

“essentially “feel good” time wasting. the mental health checks would require permanent records and “recertification” because people can “go insane”.

People can also go “criminal”.

You have had the greatest training ever here on FR!

That was true once upon a time, but it's been a long time since there was much give-and-take around here. Dissenters are run off pretty quickly. Now it's just everyone preaching to the choir, except in the Religion section, where the most vile insults and calumnies frequently pop up.

In addition, the cuts amount to less that 3% of our bloated budget which could handle a 10-20% pruning without pain.

Sequestration insulates most of the entitlement programs and mandatory spending from cuts, so the real impact is almost 10% of the discretionary budget. This is what is causing the pain along with the fact that agencies don't have the freedom to move money from various accounts.

From Jane's link, post 50,:

States are supposed to supply the federal background check system with purchasers' mental health records, but often they do not because of privacy rules and other barriers.

yeah, I could see this as a problem. However, with obamacare, I imagine we won't have any control over our own records anymore.

Goodlatte [Representative R-Va] said his legislation would be unlikely to require private background checks for private gun sales between people.

Unlikely? Not will not, but "unlikely".

Yes, it does. Also, by having 800K federal employees getting a 20% paycut with the furlough, that's a lot of people who will be yelling at Congress to do something.

Question. Who chooses/chose where the cuts will be made?

there were so many LIVs on the forum I just had a blast destroying their ignorant notions

Did you take the opportunity to call them LIVs?

It's important that we call it "The Obama Sequestration", to give their beloved ruler the same status as W, as in "The Bush Tax Cuts."

Lest we forget where this idea came from.

YEP. This should be SHOUTED from every rooftop.

I’d like to see someone start with why we even need to increase current spending.
Entitlements, other “mandatory” spending, and debt servicing costs comprise almost two thirds of the budget. They will continue to go up as our population ages and our national debt increases as we continue to run deficits.

Unless we rein in the welfare state, we will not solve our fiscal problems with spending cuts from the other one-third of the budget.

good points.

This is what’s missing. We never get a simple detailing of what total spending is, and where it’s occurring.

Instead we get this crisis on parts, and not the big picture which is what all of have to deal with in our daily lives.

Boards/forums like this where liberals are forced to see the other side are never a good venue for them. They always have to “change” the topic or lie to get anywhere at all.Doesn’t work too well here. They always wind up getting their ass kicked here.

The increase is necessitated so that the Demoviks can stuff more cash in the pockets of the unions, academics, etc., who slut for them and keep them in office.

It is also necessary to keep up with the very inflation that the Demoviks (and Repukes) create with their debt and outta control money-printing.

One on one nuclear talks - ambassador (?) says we’re just getting delays in having talks while they continue their nuclear program.

Have you noticed the similarities between the Iranian nuclear program negotiation tactics and the Obama administration budget negotiation tactics?

Moving the goal post, double dealing, and lying, all the while receiving air cover from the corrupt MSM?

The head of the Executive Branch--Obama. I am sure he delegates most of it to the agency heads who are Presidential appointees. They are constrained to a certain degree because the cuts must be made across the board to various account buckets.

I am most upset about how the Pentagon has politicized this. I am not in favor of deep military cuts, but given how the Pentagon is playing hardball politics, I say let the cuts happen and then we can address them next fiscal year.

Yep. The *unlikely* usually turns into likely. I don’t like the sound of any of it.

Yes. The corrupt MSM has played a huge part in destroying this country. Their coverage of obama is sickening. WIth an honest media, obama's candidacy would never have survived Rev. Wright.

Well there is one small piece of good news. In Texas we have the first Republican primary challenger to RINO Cornyn. Remember this was the man who told everyone that Florida’s Frist was a great Republican Senatorial choice.
