After weeks without talks on the U.S. budget crisis, President Barack Obama called Republican leaders on Thursday to discuss the harsh “sequestration” cuts to government spending due to begin in just over a week.

In what might be just the start of long negotiations to prevent the $85 billion in cuts, Obama spoke to House of Representatives Speaker John Boehner and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. The conversations were “good,” White House spokesman Jay Carney said, but he declined to provide details.

A McConnell spokesman said it was the first outreach from Obama since the New Year’s Eve “fiscal cliff” deal. …

“After weeks without talks...”

Just like all the other crap they end up waiting until the last moment, and then pushing it through (7 days now) because it is “an urgent crisis”. FUBO. FURINOS.

I thought that Boehner said that he wasn’t going to deal directly with Obama anymore. Another lie.

It’s time for a third party on a national level. Most of us don’t have the name recognition to get this done, due to the massive amounts of money needed to start this and sustain it over a few losing cycles. But its going to need to start with the national talk radio people (who made millions off us, and need to take the risk to their reputation) and a group of real conservative Congressmen.

Simple message: cut federal spending, cut federal regulations (including repeal obamacare), free the states to tackle issues as they want (guns, abortion, gay marriage, drugs).

It may already be too late, but since it will take 2 or 3 cycles to win,it needs to start now.

Boner and Mitch are being pulled back into the black hole of political negotiations with the affable marxist

“sure I proposed and signed that sequester but I never really thought you guys would let it happen”

The GOP is being set up to take the PR hit regardless of the outcome while zerO as usual leaves no fingerprints on anything

WTH is O’s man, Harry Uriah Heep Reid?

There's no evidence that Boehner is dealing.

He took a call. That's all. Nobody should expect him to reject a call from the President.

I’m Conservative, but you’re the biggest party-first, Boehner apologist on this board. He’s going to sell us all out again, but here you are, still making excuses for him.

Last time Boehner got a deal to lock in the Bush tax cuts for 99% of the public without having to renew them any more. Many would have thought that could never be done given the left's adamant stance against the Bush tax cuts for years.

Now you jump to say Boehner's making a deal without knowing any facts.

I think you work for the DNC.
