As Colorado lawmakers get closer to passing a bill that would stringently restrict and regulate the sale and production of high capacity magazines in Colorado, Magpul, with their back against the wall, announced that they’ll just move to another state if the bill passes.
The Magpul van parked outside the Colorado statehouse when a spokesman spoke to lawmakers.
“Our company [Magpul] could not, in good conscience, continue to manufacture our products in a state where law-abiding citizens are prohibited from purchasing and owning them. ” Founder, President and CEO of Magpul Industries Richard Fitzpatrick said in a statement. “The passage of this bill will do nothing to enhance public safety, but will force us to immediately begin taking our business to another state.”
On Feb. 15 the Colorado General Assembly passed an amended version of House Bill 13-1224 in a preliminary vote. The bill would prohibit the sale, transfer or possession of a magazine that holds more than 10 rounds, or more than five shotgun shells. In addition to restricting the ownership of those items, the bill would also heavily regulate the manufacturing or assembly of them. Manufacturers would have to engrave a serial number and date of assembly on magazines with a capacity larger the those previously mentioned.
The amendment added to the bill will exclude manufacturers, retailers that cater to out-of-state customers, and federal and local officials from penalty for possession or transfer of the items. However, civilians who already own high cap mags would also be excluded from penalty — just as long as they don’t try to sell them. The bill was introduced Feb. 7.

Remington is not headquartered in New York, it’s headquartered a few miles away from me in North Carolina.
They were established in the early 1800’s by Eliphalet Remington in Ilion, New York and manufacturing facilities are still located there.
Headquarters came to Madison, NC from Delaware. They were owned by DuPont at the time and were spun off shortly thereafter. A couple of lean years resulted. Doing quite well now, though.
He needs to go to all the major manufactures of parts and firearms in states that are attempting that nonsense and personally invite them to Texas. Have A.G. Greg Abbot follow up with info on the leagal protections that can be provided.
THEN...
He should visit all the OTHER domestic parts and firearms AND ammo manufactures about creating or moving facilities to Texas.
He can easily create a "Texas Industrial Firearms Coalition" and develop it into a single point of access that will have a high degree of steady and reliable delivery of quality arms, parts, components and ammunition to both domestic and international customers.
Then he can point out how he reversed the other states job-killing and turned it into even more Texas job creation.

They ought to do what that e-mail circulating around says one boss in Floriduh did .... walked through his parking lot and checked all the cars with Obama bumper-stickers, and made up his layoff list from that.
If I were anyone in the Texas government, I'd have had feelers out to Magpul weeks ago. By now I'd have an info package together identifying potential locations and local tax rates.
Hey-anyone who shows up at the general store out here with an Obama sticker on their vehicle gets a semi-hostile “not from around here, are you?” look-and there’s little help should they be lost, looking for the home of a friend/relative, especially if they have out-of-state plates. I’ve given that look many times.
A clerk or customer will ask what road they’re looking for, then give them directions only a local could follow-maybe. Followed up with a smile and “now don’t you turn off on any other road, you hear?-you’ll get lost for sure”... I’m pretty sure there are lost Obama voters driving endlessly around the unpaved roads out here, like in “The Ballad of the MTA”...

Yeah, that bill isn’t going to go anywhere though. It’s for show.
Probably won’t pass but this constant attacking from all flanks is diverting attention and resources from the main assault.

That is funny. I remember hearing that song back in the 60s and wondering the same thing. I used to have the Kingston Trio album with that and a bunch of other good songs on it. I gave all my LPs away many years age. To my surprise they seem to be making a bit of a comeback. I doubt my film cameras will ever do the same thing tho.

Possibly designate the vast Hill Country area west of Austin as the new Texas firearm manufacturing zone. Nice climate, interesting landscape, friendly people, pretty women. Spread around some tax breaks and it could fly pretty well.

Which, de facto, removes your property from a right to a fasctic dicta.
If you have no control over the lend, lease and sale of your property then it ceases to be property.
Whether it passes or not, it would still pay to move to Texas. The only reason a business won’t move right now is uprooting is hard and costly. In 5 years, they would pay for the move,....maybe sooner.
