Thanks Swamper. I see that money line about the 1 + million “assault-type” weapons in private hands. The thought of trying to confiscate those weapons seems to be sending a tingle down the legs (and up the back) of many LEO policy makers.

Wow! That really laid the politicians out as the petty tyrants they are. He needs to go the step further and state the their Association will refuse to enforce those laws.

I see a text-only version at the link below. I have no affiliation, just found it searching for a plain-text version of the letter. Looks faithful to the original, at a glance.

I wonder where the Saratoga PBA's 105 members were when the state made it a felony to possess a magazine with a capacity of over 10 rounds. Crickets, I think. Speaking up now because THEIR ox is being gored.

Fact is those legislators who voted for this bill don’t gave a damn about what the public wants.
They have their agenda and that is it.

Maryland is now doing the same thing. Maryland had 4,000 people at the state house last week objecting to a gun bill and they are shoving it through at super speed.

I guess they will not be happy until they piss us off bad enough to fight.

The letter is spot on and exposes Obama’s deceptive tactics for what they are. If thousands of Sheriffs would do the same and police departments would join in it would certainly help. It gives you at least some hope that not all government officials are corrupt.

When Push comes to Shove who does one listen to? City Police Chiefs or County Sheriffs? which group has power over the other?
Or do we ascribe to our own beliefs and relie on the Constitution?

The recent actions of the New York Governor and Legislature show, without reservation, that they consider themselves above their legally endowed authority. They have converted New York into a dictatorship that rules by decree rather than the voting will of the citizens.

In most cases the chief of police is appointed “hired” by the local elected officials while the sheriff is elected by the people and funded by the state government.
So I would guess the local elected officials have much less influence over the sheriff.

Yes they do, and that is the objective, not safer streets or keeping children safe or what ever other reason they want to pull out their butts.

They are pushing buttons to get a response.

They get their response then they act.

The left has never fooled itself.

They have always known they could get limited power without violence but they could never get and keep absolute power without violence.

The gun grab has nothing to do with guns, it’s all about absolute power for the left.

Its just another law that will be enforced as strongly as the anti drug laws. Only difference is the real criminals are not the gun owners. I can see the police’s concern, just how many officers will they lose when confronted with a neighborhood of irate legal gun owners. The police and the national guard are filled with civilian legal gun owners. This is what you get when you have elected officials put in office by the uninformed voters.

It is entirely as you say! In my terminology it is Politicians selecting their Butt Boys, who walk the line, where as Sheriffs are elected by the people. Most Sheriffs know this and do the will of the people.

This is an excellent letter. The facts and logic are impeccable and the persuasion is eloquent. Americans should read and memorize this. It will help them understand why the gun control propaganda is nonsense.

Yeh. Tried to read a bit of it and didn’t make it too far past the first page before I felt the beginnings of a headache coming on. Having been the unfortunate recipient of an ocular headache in the past, I was in no hurry to repeat the experience.

I think that should be the followup but IMO the letter was just right. Remember the DoI and how it lays out a 'long train of abuses and usurpations' and counsels that "...a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation." That long letter leaves them no excuse that they were not "...Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms:..."

To that point; perhaps groups of like-minded friends and neighbors could set up some kind of early warning systems. Use computer cams and microphones set up to live-stream from your house to the computers on your network of allies. When activated it would contact everyone in the network on their 'puters, mobile devices, etc. like a text message. Just a thought.
