The military shovel (Entrenching Tool) makes an excellent weapon if you know how to use it.
The Russian Spetznaz use one that comes with sharpened edges and point for hacking and throwing.

We were bored on FTX in the hills of S Korea in '66 and we invented a "dart game" (jarts?) out of our entrenching tools.
Sort of a form of horseshoes.
