The pedo-enablers will turn up from time to time. Nothing new.

Based on what? You’re as bad as Freeh. Looks like you listened to the ESPN spin last summer and made up your mind. Nice critical analysis though. Bravo!

So Jim Clemente is a liar? Do you know anything about him? His credentials and reputation are both above reproach. There is no disputing that. He was also the victim of abuse.

“Really? You apparently think winning footbal games is good that offsets a lot of evil.”

On what basis do you say that? Your comment is amazingly similar to the Freeh report. Conclusions made without regard to facts.

I will pray for your children. May they grow to be more educated that you.

Forget about the mother. No ONE picked up on this, not even the experts. Over and over again he fooled them. Got away with adopting and fostering many, many kids, and passed with flying colors EVERY TIME. Yet you repeat the mantra - Joe should have known. Think man.

I wonder if anyone on this forum is aware that louis freeh was a co-chair and also general counsel of MBNA, who happened to be the second mile’s largest corporate sponsor. Things that make you go hmmmm...

Kinda' like criticizing the idiot we have in our White House. Kinda' gets people all stirred up.

I don’t repeat the mantra that Joe should have known. He was in charge of an organization where this happened consistently over time. That should be enough to get you fired, whether or not he knew about it.

You are so right. Those who bury their heads in the sand, who refuse to try to understand the concepts of ‘nice-guy-offnders’ and ‘grooming’, who carelessly place blame where is doesn’t belong - those are surely the pedo-enablers. And it appears you are glad to be on their team. Clearly you have not read the reports. I suggest you do so to avoid future embarrassment.

I say it on the basis that those obsessed with Paterno and defending his total inaction in the face of credible reports of child sodomy and a decade of observing the sodomite parade children around his football program are almost all fans of Penn State Football.

Just looking at the FR names of some of the most prominent defenders shows what they think is important - JoePa - Nittany Lions, etc.

I hope your children are protected from men like Paterno who think his reputation is more valuable than due diligence in protecting them from a known pedophile.

I will pray for you. You really really need it.

Dreamer - you seem like a good guy who’s heart is in the right place. Would you please take the time to take a look and listen to what Thornburgh and Clement have come up with?
It’s a bit of an investment in your time, but worth it. Try to understand the reality of a “friendly predator” whose grooming skills were in the top 1% of all friendly predators. And please don’t throw around statements like “discouraging pursuit of the matter” - it’s patently false. Louis Freeh has a history of unsubstantiated conclusions and unsupported exaggerations, and has been reprimanded for it. Take a steo back and reconsider your opinion, based on facts, not media-driven drivel.

RESTORE THE LEGACY OF ONE OF THE TRULY GREAT MEN IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL.

Oh please! “History of Football?” In the scheme of things, to suggest that anything “great” about football would trump what Paterno did to “preserve his legacy,” is a disgrace! The idea that we should expunge Paterno’s “record of deception” where Sandusky was concerned makes me want to puke! From my perspective there are no “great men” in sports. But I understand where you are coming from. I had a business associate who told me back when OJ Simpson was on trial for killing his wife that “he could not have done it because he was a sports figure.” That is your mentality too and it doesn’t show much intellect!

Sure, and try to understand the reality of someone hearing a report of sodomy in the showers of a program under their control, a report credible enough that they hire the guy who made it for the next decade - and then them doing NOTHING as you they the reported pedophile take boy after boy to events he ran, away games, banquets, and to the showers in his facility.

That is the reality.

All the hand waving, extenuating circumstances, anecdotes and personal attacks do not detract from that reality.

Let’s see...Paterno was aware that Sandusky had been investigated by the authorities (on child molestation allegations) in 1997. Four years later, a graduate assistant on his staff (later promoted to assistant coach—and still on the staff when the scandal finally broke) tells Paterno what he witnessed Sandusky doing with that little boy in the shower of the Penn State doorbell complex. JoePa’s reaction? Call the AD—the guy he put into that post—and let the cover-up continue. In the interim, more kids were victimized by Sandusky.

Paterno could have stopped the whole thing in 2001 by simply having the courage to call the local prosecutor or the state police. Instead, he was more concerned about protecting the PSU football brand and his own reputation. The “report” commissioned by his family is little more than an exercise in denial.

God Bless Joe Paterno and Penn State! Glory be that the truth is coming out. Hopefully Penn State will return the statue of Joe soon. Glad they only put it in storage. The Penn State tragedy is on the football team and the Paterno’s. Sad for all of them

Amen...

What I heard from my cousin (who is a PSU student) is that Joe went to the president of PSU. Now, what Joe is guilty of is trusting the PSU administration!

Thank you pghoil. It seems there are many who have made up their minds, and will believe JoePA is evil. No facts or rational thinking will change way they believe. And they will not read the reports, because they do not want their minds changed. Perhaps they are concerned about being seen as pedo-sympathizers, or will feel their masculinity challenged. The sad irony is that this is just what the pedo’s want - in fact, it’s what they are counting on.

I’d love to continue the chat - but for now - I’m out.

SEVEN people testified under oath that Joe Paterno was NOT made aware of 1998. NO ONE testified that he was made aware of 1998.

Why do people (the media) just make stuff up? Why do otherwise smart people buy into everything and anything that some sports hack writes from his basement?
