Joe Paterno Really Didn't Know
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSW6aG9hWok ^

Posted on 02/13/2013 9:59:29 AM PST by privatedrive

This excerpt from the Clemente Report is very disturbing. For anyone who refuses to believe that Joe didn't know - I think this story will change their minds. Would anyone blame this Mom, like they blame Joe? Would she be fired? Would she be cast as a horrible, evil person? Should all of her life's good work be erased because of this episode? Was she demonized like Joe has been? And this molestation happened literally right in front of her eyes.

Please watch the video, read the Clemente report, THEN please post your comments and let us know what you think.

Excerpt from Clemente Report:

"One of the many potential victims whom I interviewed during the investigation had a very interesting story to tell. First, I spoke with the boy’s mother. She assured me that she had already asked her approximately 6-year-old son whether Taus had molested him. He said no, so she believed there was no reason for me to talk to her son. I told her I would just like to ask a few questions and it would not take long. She reluctantly agreed. I interviewed the boy while he sat beside his mother and asked the boy a number of questions before I inquired whether Taus played any games with him. He answered that yes, they played the tickle game. I asked how the game was played. At that point, I recall the boy turning to his mother and saying, “You remember Mom, when I was sitting on his lap last time he was here talking to you. He had his hand up my shorts tickling my privates. He tickles me and I have to try not to laugh.” I looked at the mother and all the color had drained from her face. She could not believe that Taus had molested her son right in front of her very eyes and she had no idea that it had happened. She trusted Taus so much based on his profession, his reputation, and her repeated positive interactions with him that she never even questioned the fact that he liked to have her son sit on his lap."

ALL OF YOU PEOPLE, PARTICULARLY ESPN TALKING HEADS, NEED TO SHOW SOME REAL COURAGE AND ADMIT THAT YOU WERE WRONG. IT COULD HAVE JUST AS EASILY BEEN YOU INSTEAD OF JOE. OR THAT POOR MOM. CMON PEOPLE - HAVE SOME MORAL COURAGE AND ADMIT YOUR MISTAKE, AND HELP THESE GOOD PEOPLE RESTORE THE LEGACY OF ONE OF THE TRULY GREAT MEN IN THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL.

Which police agency did Paterno report this to?

None. Thus his legacy.

It is painfully obvious that you have not reviewed the facts in this case. So many inaccuracies in your post.

It’s OK though - this is how most people (especially anonymous internet posters!) feel, and probably will feel forever. Those of us who have read the Freeh report, and the Paterno report, page-by-page, (not easy - it’s 400 pages in all) have learned what very likely happened here and, my FRiend, it just not as you think and describe.

It’s OK though. If I were you, I wouldn’t waste my time reading through such an exhaustive compilation. Just realize that you MIGHT have rushed to judgement a bit.

” The “report” commissioned by his family is little more than an exercise in denial.”

Right, they just worked backwards from their desired result! Like his butt buddy Sandusky, Paterno, at the end of the day was just another ‘self aggrandizing sports figure” who saw himself as more important than truth and justice. If the people of Pennsylvania had any decency, they'd go burn down the stadium at Penn State, but instead enough of them are so full of crap, they continue to defend the indefensible.

So Joe didn't notice that his Defense Coordinator was bringing 8 year old boys to whom he was not related to bowl game where they shared a motel bed together.

Right!

Totally pass the smell test, totally.

Every deviant has an apologist somewhere.

You don’t get it. This is how these friendly-pedophiles operate. Sandusky was always around children, He was smooth enough to get six adopted kids and four foster kids by all the experts. He was a tee-totaler - a fact he used to stay away from adult socializing and go hang out with the kids. Joe and the rest of the coaches were on one side of the pool, drinking bourbon, and Sandusky was playing Marco Polo and fondling these boys right under their mothers’ watchful eyes. Kids were his life - a very carefully crafted cover.

As for your insinuation that Sandusky booked a room with an 8 year old boyand Joe knew about it - I don’t know how to respond to that. Sandusky was a phenom groomer who fooled everybody - every those TRAINED to spot such monsters. Go ahead and claim Joe shoulda known though.

Desperate times for the Fan Club.

Oh, the Joe Paterno cultists are back at it today. Seems the few that they are will go to any length to rehabilitate the (deservedly) tarnished reputation of their hero. What a pathetic group. Imagine trying to rehabilitate the reputation of a pedophile enabler (Paterno) of the pedophile Sandusky? That's a tall order.

Fact of the matter: the Thornburgh report is flawed just like these cultists claim the Freeh report to be.

For a detailed analysis of the Thornburgh report I direct you to the Yahoo Sports reporter Dan Wetzel's column written after the report's release. Or better yet, go to the ESPN.com's website and read Gene Wojciechowski's column also written after the release of the Thornburgh report. Both of these reporters are print journalists and not the ESPN "talking heads" that one of the cultist criticized earlier. And before you leave either of those websites, take the time to read the comments posted by college football fans after each article. Thankfully, the reporters, as well as the average fan can see right through Thornburgh's phony report.

And then yesterday, Mike Francesa, a sports talk show host here in New York, had Dick Thornburgh on as a guest. To say the least the interview did not go well for Mr. Thornburgh and he all but excused himself from the truncated interview. Seems he couldn't or didn't want to answer some pointed questions from Mike. Thornburgh, a paid mouthpiece for the Paterno family cut and ran.

Thankfully, this bought and paid for Thornburgh report is not changing anyone's mind with respect to the enabler Paterno.

Post 2001 - js was never seen on campus with second mile kids again. Ever - as per MM’s testimony.

I wish people would pay attention to the facts of this case. It’s an indictment on their attention spans and prior biases.

It doesn’t matter. The truth was exposed and the guilt killed him. Everyone should let it go.

If one of your points is that pedophiles can be very tricky and are good at hiding their actions, I agree. That is why the crime is so horrible.

and the German people didn’t know the Nazis were really killing Jews.

and Sean Payton didn’t know that his DC was paying a bounty for big hits.

and Liz Taylor and others close to him didn’t think MJ was molesting kids.

and Nixon didn’t know about Watergate

and the SS didn’t know Slick Willy was getting Monica’ed

There are many here who scream for culpability in our government but willing to turn a blind eye when it affects a iconic old man’s legacy.

Before I get piled on for that statement, I meant this thread doesn’t matter. Joe Paterno knew his legacy was ruined and that of PSU management. I have no adverse opinion of the players, alumni or fans.

The elite of PSU covered this up. That is a BIG problem. This thread will never absolve Paterno of looking the other way.

Judging from the latest Paterno stories on the web, it seems that his family is making a full court effort to try and repair Joe's reputation.

Joe Paterno's family begins reputation repair work

I wonder if this also involves hiring a public relations firm and getting friends and alumni to post this nonsense in forums and blogs across the web, Rat astrotruf style?

Pedo State should be bulldozed to the ground and then nuked from orbit just to be sure. Paterno’s statue should be shipped to the Ft.Sill artillery range to be used for target practice.

The correct quote is below:

“With the benefit of hindsight, I wish I had done more.”

See the difference?
Probably not.
