Fort Hood Hero Says Obama 'Betrayed' Her, Other Victims
ABC ^ | 12 Feb 13 | NED BERKOWITZ and BRIAN ROSS

Three years after the White House arranged a hero's welcome at the State of the Union address for the Fort Hood police sergeant and her partner who stopped the deadly shooting there, Kimberly Munley says President Obama broke the promise he made to her that the victims would be well taken care of.

"Betrayed is a good word," former Sgt. Munley told ABC News in a tearful interview to be broadcast tonight on "World News with Diane Sawyer" and "Nightline."

"Not to the least little bit have the victims been taken care of," she said. "In fact they've been neglected."

There was no immediate comment from the White House about Munley's allegations.

Thirteen people were killed, including a pregnant soldier, and 32 others shot in the November 2009 rampage by the accused shooter, Major Nidal Hasan,

Munley, since laid off from her job with the base's civilian police force, was shot three times as she and her partner, Sgt. Mark Todd, confronted Hasan, who witnesses said had shouted "Allahu Akbar" as he opened fire on soldiers being processed for deployment to Afghanistan.

As Munley lay wounded, Todd fired the five bullets credited with bringing Hasan down.

Despite extensive evidence that Hasan was in communication with al Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki prior to the attack, the military has denied the victims a Purple Heart and is treating the incident as "workplace violence" instead of "combat related" or terrorism. Munley and dozens of other victims have now filed a lawsuit against the military alleging the "workplace violence" designation means the Fort Hood victims are receiving lower priority access to medical care as veterans, ....

Some of the victims "had to find civilian doctors to get proper medical treatment" ...said the group's lawyer, Reed Rubinstein.

A lot of civilian guards have been replaced by military who have rotated back from the desert. It depends on the base. I was out at Hood temporarily and they had a ton of civilian guards when I was there. This was in 2008.

“...the military has denied the victims a Purple Heart and is treating the incident as ‘workplace violence’ instead of ‘combat related’ or terrorism.”

While the workplace violence designation is ludicrous the award of the Purple Heart to civilians was specifically banned by the Army before 9-11.I left in 2006 and unless there have been changes the following remains true:

Several civilians , especially AMC Project manager Saudi Arabian National Guard who were injured in the 1995 terrorist attack received the Purple Heart for injuries incurred. in that event on 13 November 1995, a 220-pound car bomb exploded in a parking lot adjacent to an office building housing the Office of the Program Manager, Saudi Arabian National Guard, in Riyadh, causing five U.S. and two Indian fatalities.

I think several others were awarded for injuries incurred in Former Yugoslavia. Uniformed service personnel and such veterans groups as the VFW became irate over the ‘degrading’ of the decoration by awarding it to some civilian feds. Before the events of 9-11 the Army specifically banned the award of the Purple Heart to any government or other civilian. There was a discussion of establishing a ‘civilian purple heart’ but the Army leadership had no interest in this and it went no where. I am no fan of the Mahdi, but this bit of contemptible behavior has more to do with petty jealousy within the Army family than anything else.

Sgt Munley can get together with the woman Obama used in NJ after Sandy who had yet to see a thing he’d promised.

There is no surprise here, when mac daddy spoke his first words as a baby it was a lie and to this day whenever he opens his mouth lies just pour out.

"Maybe she should start a support group with that Hurricane Sandy victim that Obama promised to help."

What are you talking about? Obama's support for the Sandy victims has been utterly fantastic. Just ask the blubbering Governor Christie.

She is a brave gal and few people know what she went through. Her leg was in really bad shape.I had the pleasure of meeting her at her parents business in NC. These people are the bests of the best, finest of the finest. For Obama not to take care of the wounded ,which does not surprise me,is a true outrage.

Kimberly is a mom and was a true brave patriot during the entire shooting.

As Winston Churchill said about mankind,
ABC “will occasionally stumble over the truth, but most of the time will pick itself up and continue on.”

Kimberly Munley says President Obama broke the promise he made to her that the victims would be well taken care of.

It's what serial liars absent any character do.

Sgt. Munley’s calling out Obama as a liar re taking care of wounded military personnel, and in light of Obama’s pimping his supposed support of the military at his State of Disunion address tonight, the Ft. Hood plaintiffs could be the straw that breaks Obama’s back re the military.

The VA is in disarray and if I remember correctly, former Gen. Shinseki is in charge of it (and there is some civilian administrator there too).

They’ve had 4 years to straighten up things and apparently have not made any significant progress on many fronts.

Time for all veterans to go after Obama and his incompetents.
