The U.S. government spent about $2.2 billion last year to provide phones to low-income Americans, but a Wall Street Journal review of the program shows that a large number of those who received the phones haven't proved they are eligible to receive them.

Over $2.2 bllion dollars giving away cellphones... and this is okay with the GOP? I haven’t heard them criticize this program at all, do they ever mention it?
Laqueesha pops out another fatherless child and gets another Obama handout. She wakes up around noon and gets in her new Chevy Tahoe and goes to buy TBone steaks for dinner. Meanwhile I am standing in line at the grocery store behind her and her fully laden buggy full of steaks and ice cream and debbie cakes. I have a can of beans because I have no money left after PAYING for mine AND her phone and PAYING to feed her welfare babies.
Poor helpless Lequeesha and her 7 welfare babies. They play the system like a flute.
I’ve seen these phones pitched on TV with a mom (white) saying now she can keep in touch with her kids. The children in the commercial are young, implying they’re living with her, implying multiple obamaphones in the family. So wrong.
My little sister is a govt. employee / hardcore lefty and was a volunteer giving these things away last summer, we haven’t talked much since.
Any stats on how many were 0bama supporters and dims?

No, but the *cost* has increased $1.4B (up to $2.2B from .8B) since 2008. And lucky us get to pay for it in our cell/land line bills.

Never hear a thing do you? Every night when I watch tv you see the commercials, are you on food stamps, ssi disability, adc? You may qualify for a free cell phone with text.... I have to pay for my cell phone why do we have to give free phone service to those on the dole? Hey boner here’s a cut we can implement! You know instead of eliminating an aircraft carrier !

I JUST heard Herman Cain (WSB radio 750-taking over for Neal Boortz) at 11:50 a.m. say that he had NOT HEARD about the “Obama-phones”!!!!! (this is sad, sad, sad.)
This reminded me immediately of Chris Wallace of Fox News saying he didn’t know who Nostradamus was!!
I’m convinced reading FreeRepublic should be a REQUIREMENT for everyone!
