Blistering new book coming out about Rove and the establishment - been in teh works since day after election. Some pull quotes about Rove, Romney, the establishment, how liberals are undermining entrepreneures on purpose, etc.
The image of a typical OWS encampment allows us a peak at the future, which is a powerful object lesson by itself. The fear of even having this discussion with the voters is why we are not happy with the establishment. They would rather change the subject to something trite like “jobs and Ohio” without realizing that a communist movement central to the Democrat universe is about “jobs and Ohio.”
One thing the GOP must do is clean house of all the little naive “Daddy got me a job” consultants, and hire some folks who have actually been in the real world for a while.
Apparently in the mind of Democrat consultants, women should vote the concerns between their legs over the concerns between their ears.
Newt and his official staff, including the consultants inside WOF, were so obsessed with Mitt’s campaign that they forgot about Obama, whoever the hell he is, and refused to acknowledge that Santorum even existed. Those were two awful mistakes.
Pundits may drone on about moderates and independents and low information voters, but nothing turns moderates, independents and low information voters into higher information voters like a campaign that draws sharp and clear distinctions, and one that generates enthusiasm
The subject of Obama’s awfulness was not what the establishment wanted because Mitt’s not very good at that subject. And besides, soccer moms won’t like it either, or so we’re told. The arrogant and controlling establishment was telling us to shut up, sit down, and listen to our bettors – and everything would work out just fine. In this way, the GOP establishment is similar to very thing we fight against in the Federal government, the arrogant controlling assumption that the elites know what we really need. This problem is inherently limiting when your message is ostensibly about decentralizing control, and why Mitt’s message was inherently limited.
Perhaps Newt would have swung and missed, but Mitt was out on called strikes.
Compared to Axelrod’s escapades, the mind numbing use of focus groups and phony polls by James Carville and George Stephanopoulos during the Clinton years is child’s play. Axelrod does not merely use deception. He IS deception.
Obama thought the first thing to do to turn our economy around would be to help trial lawyers destroy present day companies for decisions made many years ago. Do they teach that at Harvard Law, or Harvard Business?
Instead of focusing on this in 2012, the GOPe had all kinds of tortured internal debates about Romney’s tax returns instead. To the establishment, having incompetent felons running government is just not a problem, yet having a rich and generous nominee with competent accountants apparently is.
The man from Texas is indeed profoundly hated by the left. But that is not the point. The man from Texas is not hated alone. The left has projected their hatred of him onto us. His refusal to fight back was not the individual "falling on the sword" he thought it was. When he refused to fight, he let us all down.
McCain was almost irrelevant, which is hysterical considering he has spent every waking moment for forty years desperate to remain relevant
McCain stumbled into the Palin pick out of misconception as he fancied Palin as a young McCain, and not a young Reagan.
The technical term for the extension of a campaign like Huckabee’s is also known as the “Fox News Channel audition period.”
If you really want to get sick, do some research on how the brunt of the crisis might have been avoided simply by suspending the “mark to market” regulation imbedded in the Sarbanes-Oxley bill. This law, a bureaucratic accounting illusion to begin with, turned a future balance sheet challenge for some banks into an immediate cash crisis for the entire world.
It’s the perfect crime and the grandest of all larcenies. America is being stolen in broad daylight.
According to Rove’s professed “acute Understanding,” if a voter thinks Bush is to blame for the economy, we must AGREE with him. If the voter thinks Obama personally took out bin Laden, AGREE with her. If the voter thinks Republicans want to stop all sexual activities, RUN AWAY from the issue. If the voter thinks Palin is a dolt, REINFORCE that idea. Mr. “Acute Understanding” thinks we can actually win this way. Who is the dolt again?
In other words, they should look at a focus group as a starting point the for voter education, instead of an end point of candidate capitulation.
Liberals in power have simply made borrowing too easy and drilling too hard.
As long as we run low information campaigns, we will suffer at the hands of low information voter.
A campaign will never succeed if it’s built on the premise that offending soccer moms in southern Ohio is a fate worse than losing the entire American experiment. Such campaigns are inspired by focus groups, and isolated from reality.
Conservatism takes longer than the confines of a single focus group to understand, and yet, Rove insists that he can gain “an acute understanding” on the basis of focus group data. That’s nutty.
This mindset is foreign to the entrepreneur’s very fiber. This kind of thing is what keeps the movers and shakers from moving and shaking. This is what motivates Atlas to shrug. This is what liberal elites know. This is what they want.
And to folks who believe “you didn’t build that,” this is music to their ears. They either believe it in ignorance or cheer it with their resentment. Or both. And it’s not just Dodd Frank. This is what will make everything about Obama Care like pulling teeth, including pulling teeth. This is the EPA and the INS and the IRS and the TSA and all the other alphabet agencies becoming the focus of our lives.
There is nothing in this great game that will ultimately defeat the entrepreneur. It is simple human nature. There is, however, one way to defeat the entrepreneur and thereby ruin an entrepreneurial economy. Change the very nature of the game. Yes, rig the game so that honesty and hard work and innovation are merely coins of a foolish realm. Rig the game so that the little microbial rules become more important than the game itself - thereby elevating the little human microbes who sit in government cubicles 40 hours a week with no risk above the dreamers who work 100 hour weeks and who are willing to risk everything.
But the ominous impact is that below the surface, this dynamic depresses and numbs the human spirit of the would-be self-starting entrepreneur. And do not think for a minute that this is by accident.
Mistakes like this one are fear based and symptomatic of the Republican consultant, who lives in a vacuum of venial and un-related single issues, and assumes voters live there too. The idea of melding a socially conservative principal with libertarian disdain of unlimited government power is just a bridge too far for the Lilliputian consultant mind, especially one frozen by the irrational fear of being called homophobic.

In too many cases conservatives are content with griping about the status quo and sending email rants and jokes back and forth thinking that showing up to vote is all we need.
We have handed our future to Democrats who have no idea how to follow through on the promises they make when they campaign. Maybe they don't care to either.
Their supporters don’t know any better nor do they care because they think the liberal candidates only lie to the rest of us. So we try [meekly] to educate them and they call us liars and haters because we won’t believe the guys who are lying to On the right, there are very few who are willing to stand and fight and they get little support.

I had no idea when I started that it would end up this way, but there’s a TON about Palin in the book, the general theme being is that when someone like Palin is considered inferior to elites like Obama and Jamie Gorelick and so on, and when our own establishment reinforces that idea, there is NO WAY Republicans can win. If a non Ivy League private sector life outside of the DC to Manhattan corridor is not respected, then we’re doomed.
Everything you said is 100% correct.
BTW, I think the most profound comment in that list is the little mini lesson on Sarbanes Oxley and mark to market vis a vis the economic crash. It’s only tangentally attached to the main theme, but it is a two sentence definition of the crash.
I think that is precisely what is wrong, wrong wrong right now with the GOP.
The GOP is a bunch of insider weenies.
The millions upon millions out here ready to vote for them are regular folks. Get up every morning to go to work or raise kids. Do their best to contribute. By and large are very positive influences on themselves, and those around them.
It is LOSERS like Rove and all the weenies at the top who send US jobs abroad and do nothing to grow America, which more and more are responsible for the GOP’s absolute failure.
Give us back our party.
Bring back US jobs. Do stuff and make stuff here in the United States, and stop imitating the Democrats for crying out loud!

Karl Rove was the architect of Bush's policy to NEVER respond, refute, or fight against any Marxist slime attack, no matter how outrageous. Therefore, Bush became the pinata where everything stuck to him and to Republicans. The Republican brand was badly damaged because Rove decided it was better never to attack, fight or set the record straight.
Next up, Palin, Rove hated Palin and left her to twist in the wind. In fact, I submit, Rove actually reinforced the Left’s attack on Palin — and it stuck, and we lost.
Now Rove has basically run Romney's campaign and we see all the hallmarks of Rove’s strategy of crushing Republican primary opponents with brutal attacks, and then meekly going after Obama due to his deathly FEAR of offending a soccer mom or someone along the way.
The result of Romney's campaign is entirely consistent with how Rove views Republicans and how he totally submits to Democrats out of some false fear of a backlash or being labeled extreme. This is classic Rove.
Conservatives have been screaming at Bush to respond! Defend yourself (and us) from all these slanderous attacks, but Rove, I'm quite sure, ruled the roost and counseled against it.
Do we see the Rove pattern here?
Brutally attack other Republicans and then offer a timid, flaccid campaign against a Democrat out of abject fear of offending some mythic soccer mom or some independent somewhere. Guess what? Romney won the independents fairly convincingly... and LOST the election!
Tell me, why is anyone listening to Rove? Why does Rove have a job anywhere??
This is the core of our problems and a metaphor for America.
I've worked for several companies where the father was passing the business on to the sons. In all but one, the sons weren't prepared for it and didn't have what the father had, not the drive, the knowledge or the talent, only the power to make bad decisions and spend the inheritance. The outcomes went as predicted.
Our world, our country at this time, seems to have dropped something when the torch and mantle was passed to our generation by the generations who brought us here. We don't see things clearly. For whatever reasons, we weren't prepared and now we are like white belts pretending to be masters.
We act more like rich kids who just inherited the family fortune and business and are partying hearty, without a clue to the value and responsibility of what we've been given, nor the cost that was paid for it and required to maintain it.
In the businesses I worked where this was true, things went bad fast as value was squandered for fad and foolishness.
Your examples show this is certainly true for the eGOP's stellar management, for the low info voters and for the nation as a whole.
We need to get smart faster and to help with that we are usually given a pair of effective teachers: Professors Pain and Suffering. School of Hard Knocks will soon be in session.
First of all guys like Rove and others ignored the mechanics of basic campaigning. They allowed the M.ainline S.ocialist M.edia drive the issues and are still doing so they learned nothing from their disasters.I find it inexcuseable for Rove to allow his boss GWB get continuosly trashed without responding.

This administration came up with a policy on energy which had driven up the cost on everything. It was on the tongue of every black, white. yellow,and brown skined person living in the US....IT WENT UNTOUCHED in the 2012 campaign....WORSE YET IT IS STILL GOING UNCHALLANGED
Now the GOPES are buying into the “demographic” argument offered by the MSM. Here you have an issue staring at them straight in the face affecting every man,woman,and child of every skin color and you can’t bring it up and they talk about “demographics” being pushed by the socialist media .
Does anybody remember what the Democrats did at their convention ??? First they eliminated any mention of the word GOD...and when they thought twice about doing that they reintroduced the resolution what happened ? They booed God....That resolution was rammed through just like the Affordable Health Care Act ...
Was that fact used in any of the material Rove’s RINOS spewed forth during the 2012 Romney or US senate races or by Rove and his group of GOPES (Government Ofthe People Elite Snobs) used on their hit list ? I like using that abbreviation because it rhymes with dopes.

They could have used that episode to point out how far to the left the democrat party has hyphenated into; Demo-Coms ...Instead well we don’t like Aikin.Well at least Aikin believes in something like the ten commandments. Including Thou shalt not steal and doesn’t believe that getting elected office doesn’t give you a license to do that. Which his opponent seems to have done rather well since being in office. The same thing with Mourdock.
Now his bunch seems to be saying if you hold a religious view don’t run for office... We’re gonna save the Republican party ....to be finished off by Obama and the hypenated demo-crats..

Romney was politically incompetent. At the convention, when it was obvious he would be the candidate, he should have been politically savvy and called Sarah Palin, even offered her a place in his campaign or at least asked for her support to unseat Obama. Same with the Tea Party folks. But no, Romney did not. Stupid, stupid, stupid!
Conservative Republicans are the foot soldiers of the party. They get the voters out and do the ground work in the precincts. It is up to the candidate to ask for their support and votes. He did not and the conservatives stayed home.
Now why is it that Progressive in our party do not want conservatives getting involved? (Note: I don’t call them establishment for a reason.)
