No one ever said it was “OK” for teachers to abuse children. Get a grip, and yes, the church - specifically this pope covered up the rape of children by priests for decades.

You are right, the church lying and covering up the rape of children by priests was pure evil.

I think the problem hit hardest in the places were the homosexual mafia tried to normalize their proclivities

you are correct that it is better for the next Pope to be from Africa or South Asia

I was discussing this on another forum and a friend there suggested that a US Pope may be the answer to be a boost for the Church in the US. With all of the issues concerning the lavender mafia and how they corrupted the Church in the US, including my own Diocese of Rochester with Bishop Clark, it would be better that the next Pope comes from somewhere else, possibly Africa or South Asia. I have issues though with one of the leading candidates, Cardinal Peter Turkson from Ghana. In October 2011, he advocated for "the establishment of a ‘global public authority’ and a ‘central world bank’ and has come out in favour of a Robin Hood-style tax on large financial transactions." That's socialist and violates national sovereignty.

The end facts are that whoever we want, God has a way of giving us a surprise! I was rooting for CArdinal Ivan Dias last time, but have been very pleased with Pope Benedict

Great find!

I remember being angry with Cardinal Law, because the philosophy of psychology is within a priest's sphere of competence, and as a bishop, Cardinal Law should not have been delegating decision-making regarding homosexual-oriented priests to representatives from pseudo-sciences like modern psychology.

Sadly, the results were predictable.

He’s 85, is expected to travel all over the world and hold Mass many times week, while writing, advising, etc.

He’s weak and sick. I’d like to see what you’re doing at 85.

“...Don’t tell Obama that the job is open....”

No, job application says for “Pope” with a letter “P”...

Not a “D”.

He’s already got THAT part covered, no worries.

He doesn’t strike me as the kind of man who leave the succession of such an important leadership spot to the whims of chance.

Probably spent days or weeks in prayer asking for guidance from the Lord.

To my mind, he’s already probably made it clear who he wants, and has probably put wheels in motion to make it so. He’s an extremely intelligent, good, decent man.

“..Malichi Martin...”

I read Fr. Malachi Martin’s book “Hostage To The Devil” some years ago. Very chilling and disturbing. Shook me up quite a bit.

“...Such people on here might be surprised to learn the only people who hate us just as much are rage filled progressives....”

And did it ever occur to anyone that a lot of the “child molesting” accusations might in fact be smear tactics from the “rage filled Progressives” - the sworn enemy of the Catholic Church and the Christian world in general - designed to bring about shame, distrust, and hatred of Catholics and diminish the influence of the Church on society?

It’s what they do. They’re masters of it.

I’m sure there have been some priests that were justifiably accused of it. I’m not naive to believe that those things didn’t happen. And they should be removed and prosecuted.

But this Pope is a good man, and he set about going after any and all who tried to cover that up.

“...THIS job, you don’t quit. You don’t quit...”

Although I agree with you brother, someone upthread suggested the possibility of the onset of dementia - maybe an Alzheimer’s-like condition, or Loewy-Body Syndrome.

If that’s so, and he made the decision to not continue in that diminished capacity, it’s probably the right move.

My immediate gut instinct is that this is probably the case.

Having lived through a family member go through that hell of losing all memory and recognition, I can only imagine what is going through his mind right now, if that indeed is the case.

I hope that is not what is happening...it’s terrible.

Keep trying to minimize the rape of children. Maybe you will convince yourself one day.
