Saturday was a day of remembrance for Trayvon Martin, as about a thousand people —including actor Jamie Foxx —united with the late teen’s family to march, pray, listen to music and hear inspirational messages, while pressing for justice in his killing.

The Trayvon Martin Foundation sponsored the “I am Trayvon Day of Remembrance Community Peace Walk,” to honor the unarmed, Miami Gardens teen fatally shot in Sanford on Feb. 26 of last year by neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman.

“We’re here to let the community, and particularly teenagers, know that they have the right to walk in peace without being followed, without being harmed and without being killed,” Trayvon’s mother, Sybrina Fulton, told The Miami Herald at the start of the event at Ives Estate Park at 20901 NE 16th Ave. in north Miami-Dade. She said the walk would be held annually.

Funny how NO ONE IN THE MEDIA has asked whether the constant burglaries have stopped in that neighborhood.

Reporter: "Sir, do you think anything good came of this tragedy?"

Neighbor: "Well, there is one thing..."

Reporter: "And what is that?"

Neighbor: "We haven't had any burglaries since then."

> It’d be interesting to know if the crime rate has gone down over the past year.

Only one way to find out; request the call logs for the blocks in close proximity for the address where his girlfriend lived and check all suspicious person, theft and burglary calls for several months before and after the time he was seeing the gf and compare them to call logs after the shooting...

Skittles(tm) + Arizona Iced Tea, Watermelon Flavor + codeine cough syrup = the "lean" variation of 'Purple Drank'.

“And what a great day it was. We all wore hoodies, ate Skittles, ran as though evading police, attacked whites along the route and just enjoyed the day!!!” Sarcasm off!

Have Trayvon’s parents tried to sell the blood stained “chalk outline” on Ebay yet?

I CANNOT BELIEVE WHAT I JUST SAW ON MIAMI TV!

Local news just ran an interview with Jamie Foxx where he said the event had “nothing to do with race”!

Didn’t Jamie Foxx admit he ALWAYS thinks about race??
Of COURSE the genius conducting the interview didn’t challenge the racist.

The esteemed Mr. Foxx says this “isn’t about race.” Taking him at his word, I assume he and his pals would be doing this if Trayvon had been a white kid......

“Maybe some Florida Freepers should organize a George Zimmerman walk to show some support for defending against attacks by young thug-wannabes”

FReepers want the truth to come out, in a court of law.

Zimmerman is a registered Democrat.
Very few, if any, Florida Freepers are registered Democrats.

And yes, we citizens are truly that “divided”.

Zimmerman has already lied about some very stupid things, which while unrelated to the actual homicide event, are very indicative of a lack of character.

While I'm not implying that Zimmerman's lame attempt to lie about his finances negates his version of the nights events, it certainly doesn't help garner him FReeper support.

And nobody trusts the court system anymore, so that's where it stands, here in Florida.
