Many years ago I attended a weekday mass at the Abbaye de Solesmes near Le Mans in France. This Benedictine abbey is dedicated to preserving the Gregorian music liturgy and the experience was unbelievable. Fortunately there are a few places in the Church where this rich liturgical tradition has been preserved and is a welcome relief from the thumping guitars, banging drums and rattling tambourines that are too often the music liturgy in the post Vatican II Church.
