Britain Votes For the Beginning of the End
Townhall.com ^ | February 10, 2013 | Michael Youssef

On February 5, Britain’s House of Commons voted in favor of legalizing gay marriage. The vote is extremely alarming. It could signal the beginning of the end for Western civilization as we know it.

The idea of same-sex marriage is troubling even to some homosexuals, let alone those who hold a biblical conviction that marriage is intended by the Creator to be between a man and a woman.

The vote, which was 400-175, represented a major crack in the Conservative Party. More than half of its 303 members voted against or abstained from the measure. Prime Minister David Cameron may go down in history as the man who hammered the last nail in the Conservative Party coffin.

For now, the legislation has tried to appease the Church of England by exempting it. But that can be of little comfort to its faithful members and pastors. Unlike the U.S., where the government has no authority over the church, the Church of England’s tie to the British government is more than just a mere formality. The cannons of the church affect the government, and vice versa.

In addition, if the exemption is successfully challenged in the European Court of Human Rights, then the church will have no option. They will be forced against their conscience, conviction, and core belief to marry same-sex couples. If that happens, you’ll see a mass exodus from the Church of England to either the Catholic Church or evangelical independent churches (depending on a person’s high- or low-church tendencies).

The hope now lies within the House of Lords. But that’s a fragile hope. Even if they kill off this troubling legislation, it will only die for a season. The homosexual lobby will bring it up again and again and again. They are tenacious and even vicious. Voters against the legislation have received abuse and even death threats. David Burrowes, a ministerial aide, has been called a “Nazi.”

And this I can predict with certainty: the next group in England to seek similar legislation for their cause will be the polygamists. Muslims in England have been waiting for this legislation to pass before trying to get their legal right to marry four wives.

It is hardly a secret in England that many Muslims claim welfare benefits for multiple wives while the British government turns a blind eye to the hemorrhaging of taxpayer money.

Every time Western civilization seems to reach the bottom, one discovers a new low even farther down the pit. If Western populations don’t wake up, before long they will find themselves all the way in the Lake of Fire with the devil laughing his head off.

Not to worry, the muslims in Britain will remedy this. Just be patient.

I think gay marriage is just about the dumbest idea I’ve ever heard about, the very notion of it....not to mention immoral. But I wonder, once it’s legal, will any gays really take advantage of it?

AND: will any non gays care any more? I think once the “forbidden fruit” is no longer forbidden, they’ll abandon it. I think they like the fight more than getting married.

It’s all about normalization, now that the State sanctions it, they now are considered equal with heterosexuality....that’s what this has been the goal all along...it never was about marriage.

In fact, I think under Sharia Law that gay sex requires an amputation of some sort.....

I agree with you, but the young heterosexual hipster crowd who find it so trendy and exciting to support gay marriage aren’t as conniving....they’re just going along with the flow....

Canada legalized same-sex marriage long ago and the only thing that has changed is you never hear about same-sex marriage any more ,give them nothing to complain about and they go away ,don’t forget they are there they have always been there

the point of homosexual ‘marriage’ isn’t to get married... but the destruction of the church

I thought everyone knew that

Now that the liberals have all but won the fight for same-sex "marriage," polygamy will be their next big cause.

So gays didn’t actually get married once it was legalized?

Most of the NO votes came from Conservatives (140) with others from non-Conservatives (35).

I’m certain many of the NO votes were influenced by the fact that the MP’s are Muslims or represent Muslims. Sikhs also are opposed to homosexual marriage.

May be. But they, as a cohesive group have always been willing to go the extra mile to provoke a reinvigoration of the argument. Once case in point is the recent female “spouse” of a female Army Colonel just had to join the officers’ wives’ club. Another is a pre-operation sex change female ‘just had to be able to stay on’ at the all-female college her former sisters in strife fought so hard for to be ‘female-only.’

They are born and bred trouble makers and are never satisfied in my opinion. Appeasement and tolerance only begets arrogance and excess upon excess.

Gay Marriage is not what will destroy England. The Welfare State and allowing mass immigration of Muslims is what will destroy England.

One major point of homosexual marriage is to allow the boyfriend access to the other's work-supplied benefits package, specifically including health insurance.

I’ve always thought it was a just a new way to blackmail people.

Imagine this becomes legal, some rich guy gets drunk in a bar in Vegas—bam—he’s “married” the next day to another guy followed by a “divorce” with publicity.”Alimony” payments would be one hell of a way to someone’s bank account.

Imagine how messy legal problems/embarrassing this would be if it happened to college kids, male or female. This will just lead to people screwing up lives for money.

The handwringing about the Church of England is meaningless. The Church is so homosexual-friendly now that legislated "gay marriage" will be a welcome relief from the endless internal debate.

Good article. I've shared it around with a number of friends.

At its core, this is a drive to deny God, to destroy individual bodies and souls, as many of them as possible, and to destroy the moral and physical foundations of entire civilizations and nations. A scheme totally disconnected from any sense of right or reason, one which was undoubtedly hatched in the pits of hell.

If Britain and America, a nation that was intended to be a shining city set on a hill, are allowed to be so destroyed, a curtain of darkness shall descend on the entire world.

Folks need to wake up to the seriousness of this matter. It truly represents an existential threat.
