The manifesto came from Facebook.
Again, you are seeing something that is not there. The police are no better or worse than we are. If there is corruption, it should be rooted out, but we should not go around assuming they are all guilty because of the actions of a few either. And I am certainly not going to take the word of triple murderer at face value.
If you are so convinced that America's major cities are safe, then you won't have any problem with take long strolls through their high crime neighborhoods, right?

Can someone explain the possible reasoning behind torching the truck? He had abandoned the truck way out on a forest road in the snow...wouldn’t it have been several days before someone found it if he had not set it on fire? Torching it just brought them straight to it. What would the reason be for doing that?

Simple, so they search for him on the Mountian instead of where he is.

But they are saying now that the truck had a broken axle and that he had left cold-weather survival equipment, ammunition and some larger weapons in the truck. Basically, just taking what he could carry.
I don't know. Either the dude is some kind of mastermind, or he's just been damn lucky so far.

1. He's not playing with a full deck, so it is to be expected he will do illogical things.
Or
2. He was using it as bait to draw resources and attention to that area and away from other areas and routes.

Im surprised about it. Ive been doing this for 36 years and not a lot surprises me, Beck said. How about the fact that you are head of an incompetent, wasteful, and dangerous organization? Does that surprise you?

He stressed that if Dorner were to contact the police department and surrender he would guarantee his safety. The shooting at the newspaper delivery truck ladies and morning commuter sort of shows this line to be a lie.

I'll go with choice No. 2. Just because Chris Dorner is a paranoid psychotic does not mean he's stupid. He's planned this for over four years and has thought out many scenarios. He's got safe houses and caches all over the area. Plus, he's got the tacit approval of a lot of Los Angelinos who look at the LAPD as thugs with badges. Dorner has the ability to lie dormant until the cops are forced by budget costs to cut back their resources hunting him. Then he can go back to hunting them.

Those jack boots are after a man who murdered three people. ...by shooting dozens of times into the back of a pickup with two women out delivering newspapers and opening fire on at least one other innocent person.
LAPD puts the "Police" into "Police State."

I guess having a set of balls in California must be against the rules for jobs in the public sector. I can assure you that if they fired an affirmative action employee, there is plenty in that file.

To bring resources and attention to the wrong place. On another topic, maybe he was wronged. I don’t care. He needs to be stopped, and hopefully killed before he hurts anyone else.

Something I haven't seen mentioned here is that fire is the best way to destroy most forensic evidence, other than the type of fuel to start it, which fire investigators routinely determine. Sounds like a smart move by a determined whackjob. Plus, as others have said, it may have been a diversion for his get away.
