RE :” Though the storm wrought relatively little havoc in most of New York City, Long Island suffered a different fate. Some areas received more than two feet of snow.
By Saturday, cars were littered across the Long Island Expressway, some abandoned on the side of the road, their owners out of sight. Others were wedged on exit ramps, crossing traffic lanes and hindering efforts to plow.
“It was like a chain reaction,” said Mike Huebner, 39, a snowplow driver. “We’d have to help people or we couldn’t get through, and then we’d get stuck.”

Two feet of snow??? I lived on LI 30 years ago and two feet was not that big a deal.
But I bet she didn't have the clothes required to leave the car.

Will Coumo demand Federal emergency $$ for this?

No dog? Surely someone in a car behind you has one........make them an offer.

After all these years, I knew you were bad. I just didn't realize how bad! ;-)

Leave that Connecticut snobbery behind if you are infected with it.

I noticed that you did say "IF" Slambat. Nevertheless, as a born and raised Texan I would bet you good money that we have way more 'snobs' in Texas than Connecticut has people!

In all fairness I have spent time in Connecticut so I ain't just guessin'.

Because he’s the worst governor we’ve ever had, bar none. Obama and minions are now suing the SEC for $5 billion as a giant propaganda stunt to make people believe the Republicans caused the financial crisis, not Cuomo and Faniie and Freddie and other Dem dunces.

This has to be repeated to everyone who is getting brainfogged on this issue.

And also not let the exhaust pipe get buried in the blizzard. An old friend of mine lost both her parents that way.

Because it is a bunch of debris pushed there by the last glacier before it retreated.

We got about 29" here in north-central CT. Thankfully we never lost power! Most power outages in CT were in the SE corner along the shoreline.

Our 'RAT Governor (Malloy) reluctantly lifted the ban on driving in CT because Coupe DeVal lifted yours in MA. He stressed that it's still a good idea to stay home, and off the roads.

Judging by some of the chaos I saw on the roads on our local 11pm news, I have to say he was probably right.

Hope things return to normal tomorrow...

I can’t count the number of times I’ve been to Texas in the last twenty years so my observations are not without some merit. I’ve seen a good deal more snobbery in Texas than in Connecticut. It doesn’t bother me much and your mileage may vary. Thanks for your almost totally worthless comments; I expected nothing less.

Something went screwy with the forecasts. The info I got was accurate, but others mentioned what you said, NGZ.

Worth every penny of your Connecticut state income taxes! Be proud to reside in one of the scummier colonies!

I was orig to work for postal serv on Fri but we got the word, and this is rare, the facility was closed. I could have driven there only to find this out and then driven back. Hey with the driving ban I guess they had to. So I got the LAST space in a beachside parking lot near me and kept my car there. Beverly MA got 2 ft of snow.

Then yesterday I went to my car around 4 and it really didn’t have much snow on it because the wind had blown it off. I did some basic shoveling and with help got my car out. Thought I would go to a diff. lot and park downtown but I got stuck and after several agonizing minutes got out of THAT, then drove to a road next to the cemetery and parked it. In the past the street was OK (get the car off the road as best one can) though a list of streets on the Beverly PD website didn’t mention it. Hopefully my car is still there. It was the only one on that street anyway and maybe the tow or tag threat was more for closer to downtown.

Howie has a column on this I believe which I will now post to the Howie ping list. Anyway some snow, some wind; parts of North Shore like Salisbury, Gloucester (power outages),
Winthrop etc got hit hard. Beverly shore kind of points SE rather than E or NE so no problems

Spent much time here? BTW, thanks for confirming my comments about Texas snobbery.

I hate to say this here. But this is exactly why Governor Patrick declared a ban and got everyone except emergency personnel and media off the road for 24 hours during the storm.

He knows his people. It might have been a wildly inappropriate directive for a governor of, say, Wyoming to make, but in liberal states far too many people need clear, simple orders to follow.

“Thanks for your almost totally worthless comments; I expected nothing less.”

See what I mean? That’s exactly what I was talking about.
You’ll probably freakout and call the cops the first time
you see deer in your front yard. Na, you’d probably think
they were pigmy moose. When you come to Texas, someone is
going to have fun messing with you. Eventually you’ll
realize you were welcome here all along.

“Because FReepers in Conn are typical CT snobs. *rolling eyes*”

Sometimes yes. Rolling eyes is a symptom. Eventually you
get over it though.

Of course it’s S&P, not the SEC.
