A generation of “little savages” raised in nurseries as daycare is linked to aggression in toddlers

A rapid increase in nursery places has led to a generation of violent “little savages”, psychologist Oliver James has warned.

James, the best-selling author of books on child-rearing, said ministerial proposals to allow child carers to look after more youngsters would fuel aggression in the under-threes, which would have lasting effects.

Shoving youngsters in to nurseries was simply “warehousing” them so that the government could push mothers back to work to reap income for the Exchequer, he argued. …

James pointed to a study in America, which tracked youngsters for 15 years. It showed a correlation between the hours placed with nursery to increased aggression and bad behavior, reported by both parents and nursery workers. “Studies show there is a direct link between how many hours you spend in daycare up to the age of 4½ and how aggressive you are.” …

No fathers and mothers paying zero attention to kids. God of course, is right out...

Take away the right of the parent to paddle their little butts and you get a generation of “little savages”.

I don’t believe government pushed women into the workforce in order to reap the benefit of more tax income. I find it far more probable that women themselves wanted to work or were forced to work due to economic circumstances.

I’m old enough to remember when most women were stay at home moms. I often heard two-earner families talk about how much they enjoyed the extra income. In most cases, the women weren’t really forced to work. They were told they weren’t really equal if they didn’t have a career, and the families wanted more $ to spend.

That’s not to say there weren’t some families where the woman was forced to work. There were, but in many of those cases, the family’s own inept handling of their finances, i.e. too much debt, create the need for the woman to work.

That said, the left has this vision for the future that’s pure fantasy. They believe in all sorts of nonsense, like men and women are basically the same, that sex is a mere animal act (if it feels good, do it), that same-sex relations are the same as heterosexual unions, that schools and daycare centers can better raise children than the parents, that a single mom can raise a child as well as two parents, etc.

It’s all fantasy, and we’re all going to pay for it as American culture devolves. We aren’t entering a brave new world. We’re devolving into tribalism, paganism, and the law of the jungle.

True.

But As I said on another thread, it has to be this way. People will not wake up as long as they don’t have to. They will ride the train into the wall. But once they hit the wall...well, then suddenly they notice it was there.

Just as many on the right as the left are this way, much as we don’t want to admit it. We see that in all the excuses people make for the GOP and other such issues. They will ride that train into the wall as well. And once that house of cards falls, the excuses will stop since there will be no one but themselves left to listen. And making excuses to yourself eventually results in a bad outcome anyway.

The good part to all this is natural will reassert itself. Just as it has throughout all the history people ignore when building every Utopia that has, and always will, fail.

My mom worked when most moms were at home. At that time it meant escalating your living standard quite a bit because everything was relative. That advantage was lost once so many families had two incomes, at which point the second income became almost necessary, again in a relative way. I went to nursury school when I was four and cried every day on the way to it. And it was a jungle...terrifying place with wild kids running around everywhere and regimented eating and naps.Children pick up the least common denominator regarding habits and behavior when around other kids.

Poverty and Violence

Oliver James is a psychologist who researches social issues. His 1997 book Juvenile Violence in a Winner-Loser Culture attempts to find out exactly what it is about poverty that seems to lead to an increase in violence in young men. His conclusions are:

Low income for families causes depression in parents, and most importantly, in mothers, and depressed mothers bring up depressed and angry children.

A ‘winner/loser’ culture portrays owning possessions as the most important symbol of social status and identity. This makes those who do not own the right car/ house/ jacket/ bank or store account feel like ‘losers’ (social exclusion) instead of just poor — thus creating conditions for aggression.

What I thought was important about his research was that it showed how poverty created the conditions for violence. The link is psychological as well as social and economic. It is because of how poverty makes people feel about themselves, and others, that violence becomes a way of getting rid of these painful and unmanageable emotions.

Have one 'disciplinary male' present in all daycare centers.. The dude the little kids all have to answer to when out of line.. What the hell, put such a man in the elementary schools too. Watch things change rather quickly.

Who's the father at home? A female. Who's the father figure in daycare? Females. Who's the father figure in nearly all schools? Females. Get a clue!

NL: “The good part to all this is natural will reassert itself. Just as it has throughout all the history people ignore when building every Utopia that has, and always will, fail.”

I don’t want to see this great nation brought down, and I get no pleasure from seeing other people suffer. Nevertheless, you’re absolutely right. As a nation, we’re planting the seeds of our own destruction.

I try to see clearly. The real world IS around us, and it has no time for nonsense like same-sex marriage (as though two guys could possibly create a union! LOL!), the ridiculous concept that men and women are the same, that everyone can be rich by doing nothing and simply printing $, or that divorce, single parenthood, and shuffling children off into daycare has no negative impact.

I agree we’re gonna hit the wall, and there’s no stopping it. Even if you and I and others are able to see clearly, the vast majority won’t. The only way they’ll wake up is when it comes crashing down and they find they don’t have the most basic skills or resources necessary for survival in the real world. It’s not a matter of if. It’s a matter of when.

There is one truth I have never, EVER seen fail. “History repeats”.

And you’d think that after the various rise and falls of empire, whether the gay Romans or the Communist Soviets, overandoverandoverandover again, people would realize that.

But IMO, there is a reason they don’t and that is liberal domination of the educational system. Even I, who graduated HS in 83 got a decent one.

I tell the story of my daughter who came home beaming that her final essay on the Revolutionary war got a high grade. That essay ENDED with Revere’s ride.

I said “Where’s the war?”

“That’s all they taught us.”

And so History will indeed repeat. If they won’t teach it, we will ABSOLUTELY repeat it. 100% dead certainty. Because learning from it interferes with Utopian dreams.

Your story isn’t unusual. Parents even justify daycare, saying it will help their children socialize better. You can’t fix what happened to you, but you can choose to do better.

I’m not saying all women should stay home, btw, but I think it’s a shame that so many parents shirk the ultimate responsibility of taking care of their children.

Oh, I agree somewhat with your point about income. People want a lot of things, big TVs, new cars, huge houses, etc. In the past, single earner families had less toys (that’s really what most of it is. They aren’t needs. They’re wants). The typical family back then didn’t have a TV in every room, likely had only one car, and generally lived in much smaller houses. However, the cost of living does seem much higher now. There used to be plenty of jobs, for example, where a single earner could make enough to raise a family. Nowadays? Not so much.

Ken H: “It is because of how poverty makes people feel about themselves, and others, that violence becomes a way of getting rid of these painful and unmanageable emotions.”

That may be true, but handing money to poor people probably doesn’t help them feel better about themselves. Welfare is dehumanizing. It robs the giver by turning charity into forced wealth redistribution, and it robs the receiver by making them dependent on others rather than letting them feel their own sense of worth and accomplishment.
