at our house it is that you are not old enough for sex until you can afford to fund the place to have it in. preferably after marriage.

Yup, and we told our daughter that you fall in love, get married, and have kids, IN THAT ORDER. She is married to the greatest SIL we could have asked for in this day and age. He drove halfway from Houston to Austin for us to meet him at a restaurant, got on his knees and asked for us to let him marry our daughter.
