Nuclear war over Rove's claims to work for Reagan; Gipper biographer says no

Paul Bedard

The war of words between conservatives and former Bush advisor Karl Rove has gone nuclear, this time over Rove's claim that he worked for Ronald Reagan's 1980 campaign and on a Reagan advisory board.

The bottom line: While Rove told The O'Reilly Factor Thursday that he worked for the Gipper, Reagan's acclaimed biographer Craig Shirley says there's no evidence to back Rove up.

Worse: In an email Shirley is sending to conservative leaders, he reveals that Rove backed former President Ford in 1976 and in 1980 worked for former Texas governor Clements who didn't back Reagan until after he was nominated.

Shirley penned the book about Reagan's 1980 presidential campaign, Rendezvous with Destiny, and today said he confirmed his research about Rove with several former Reagan campaign aides...

Karl Marx Rove is cut from the same cloth as his Democrat cohorts. He really does not care about America, it is about keeping his position of power within the Republican Party elite. Had the Republican Party funded candidates the states had selected, instead of trashing them (like tea party candidates), they might have had a good chance of winning. But he really can’t afford to have conservatives getting to much control in the Republican Party as it threatens his survival.

Rove has fallen for the so called main stream media’s predilection for pretending no one will notice a lie. Rove is as bad as Chris Matthews. That is an insult!

I don’t recall saying anything about stopping Rove from doing what he wants, or getting rid of him. I just commented on your astute observation that Rove is not the enemy, Pelosi, et al. are. I remain astounded by your insight.

Rove and the gopE pulled support from every candidate for any little reason. Then they started verbally attacking them. When someone stumped his toe they should have had his or her back. Rove was against Christine O’Donnel from day one. He favored a liberal dem over a conservative republican properly selected by the voters.

entropy12 states: “I spend all my resources opposing the real enemies.”

Navy Patriot responds: “Good, then Rove will be free to put a knife in your back while Obama-Reid-Pelosi-Clinton put ‘em in your front.”

Sorry ent12, Navy Patriot’s got it right. May I suggest you brush up (or learn for the first time?) on your American history? See who the Founders regarded as the ‘real enemy’ and what they did about it and why.

Study some of the greatest men of our time, paying particular attention to former President Ronald Reagan. Then compare them to karl rove.

When you’ve completed your assignment re-allocate your resources accordingly.

Mr Rove responded to his criticizer, “Don’t call me...Shirley”.

Is the more dangerous enemy the one in front of you with the gun or the one behind you with the gun?

Rove is a symbol of what’s wrong with the GOP and why true conservatives feel lost in RINO hell.

My only real enemy is one who steals money out of my pocket everyday with taxes. That affects my lifestyle, where I can live, what food I can eat, where I can send my kids to college, what vacations I can afford, what car I can buy, how many times I can enjoy a good restaurant meal...etc.

When I started working in 1962 as a structural engineer, every raise I received increased my tax bracket. My gross income was going up but so were my taxes! I was in 42% tax bracket and I was just making average engineer’s salary. Meaning every dollar I received in raise, 42 cents went right back to IRS.

Then Reagan came along, and my tax bracket dropped to 25%. I switched from a democrat to republican because I saw who was really hurting me.

To make a long story short, every democrat in WH or congress diminishes my lifestyle. None...and I mean zero, zip, nada republicans have caused me such grief. Even the so called RINO’s. So operatives like Karl ROve I can not hate. I hate only tax raisers which means every freaking democrat. Even my state of Washington democrats are as bad as those in DC.

So, the history means noting to me. My lifestyle means everything to me and my family.

Please read my post #91 which might explain why I do not hate any republican. I only hate democrats. My reasons are spelled out in my post #91.

I admire president Reagan for reason I stated in my post#91. He is the reason I switched from a Chicago democrat to a life long republican.

Another thing I admire about the Gipper is that he did not speak ill of any republican. We call it his 11th commandment.

Do you happen to have a link or two where Rove published a column in any important media criticizing governor Palin?

Rove Attacks Fellow Republicans Sarah Palin, Rock Perry, and Herman Cain to Get Romney in White House (Original article title before they changed it)

Karl Rove questions Sarah Palin's suitability for president

Karl Rove: Sarah Palin Needs To Stop Being So Thin Skinned (while she was under severe attack BTW)

Rove: Palin Endorsement 'Not Worth Snot' For Gingrich

See a pattern here?

Actually, Team Romney started sliding their daggers into Palin’s back in late August and early September 2008, even trying to get her to back out as VP candidate so that Romney could step up. We now know that Kevin McFadden was one of the original Romney hit men, but later Nicolle Wallace, Steve Schmidt, Rove and other GOP-E minions began calling up their LSM buddies Mike Allen, Jonathan Martin, and Dave Weigel and really poured it on her. And on November 5, 2008, the day after McCain lost, a concerted GOP-E effort began to pin the entire blame on Palin, which Romney has (finally) now exploded with his weak performance this past election

The same Karl Rove who guided Lewis and Clark in their exploration of the Louisiana Territory? And, married to Sacajawea? That same Karl Rove?

Karl Marx Rove is cut from the same cloth as his Democrat cohorts.

Exactly, and it explains his method for the acquisition of personal power.

Rove will climb on top of the bodies of fellow Republicans to boost HIS elitist insider over the top.

When the DemoRat attacks don't kill those fellow Republicans so he can climb on their bodies, then Rove does, by putting a knife in their back, allowing his elitist candidate a clear path to the top. Then rove is pulled up right behind by that candidate.

He really does not care about America, it is about keeping his position of power within the Republican Party elite.

Right, again.

Had the Republican Party funded candidates the states had selected, instead of trashing them (like tea party candidates), they might have had a good chance of winning. But he really can’t afford to have conservatives getting to much control in the Republican Party as it threatens his survival.

Three for three.

So Rovian acquisition and retention of power is more important than America's safety from extreme socialism and Islamic domination.

It's not just Conservatives that Rove sabotaged.
