The enviro-wackos want the earth to return to its “natural state”, i.e., NO human development.

Yeah, with emphasis on HUMAN. A bird's nest is good, a house is bad. A beaver dam is good, Hoover dam is bad. Creeps.

The environmental issue seemed to me to be trumped up. Something about bothering the harbor seals.

Bullies like Bloomberg and Obama always go after the food. They know it’s an important thing to people, so their sadistic souls seek to alter the balance and reduce the supply. There should be a category in the DSM for this—some official-sounding name for Demonic Desire to Alter Other People’s Food.

Feeding the alligator, hoping he’ll eat you last. Well California, the alligator now dines exclusively on your oysters. Guess what’s on the menu when he tires of oysters?

To preserve the area for future generations.. and fat little furry critters.. who’s gonna feed the little critters now?

anyone familiar to the area would recognize the benefits outweigh the “costs” as portrayed by those masquerading as preservationists, and can’t shut enough land usage down as fast as they can and be satisfied.. until we all starve eating bean sprouts and gubamint cheese.

lost, a major oyster provider gone makes those providers prices left even more expensive,, bon appetit.

just one more battle leading down the road to progressive oblivion, albeit it pristine... and definitely smelly. ;-]

Can we figure out how to close down DC? I bet the EPA is breaking its own rules.

When they control people’s food, then they can control people.

[Incremental regulations: One oyster bed at a time, one backyard garden at a time. Pretty soon you won’t be allowed to grow a tomato plant in a flower-pot on the patio.]

Huldah, close down DC. Maybe a virus or maneating rats. Without DC, this country would be wonderful. Semper Fi!

Hardly. I’m certain the farm consists of the owners, and a bunch of longtime loyal Hispanics who’ve made a life for themselves at the farm. I’d believe the Marin county folks don’t even think about that farm, and if they do they think about it they do so in Leftist environmental perspective, and kudos to Obama/Salazar.

Probably a Leftist contributor somewhere will benefit by the elimination of competition by this farm is why the closing was ordered. I don’t know this, but that’s the way these clowns work.

Pretty soon the MSM will publish a picture of Obama diving for oysters.

And shooting skeets at them.

If the enviro-wackos really want the world to revert back to what they think it should be, they should all take a good whiff of cyanide, next to a trough.

There's a bit more to the story.

The farm was originally owned by the Johnson family. When the land was bought by the National Parks Service in 1972, the family was given a 40-year lease. The law stated that the land be classified as "wilderness" when the lease expired which means it was to be afforded the highest level of protection from "intrusive human activity."

The Johnsons sold the farm in 2004 to the Lunny family with full disclosure that the lease would expire in 2012. The Lunnys also signed a special use permit in 2008 which stated that they understood that commercial shellfish operations would only be allowed through November 2012.

The Lunnys decided to roll the dice and see if they could negotiate their way around federal law. Unsurprisingly, they've lost so far. The good news for them though - they do have the ear of a Senator who's willing to go to bat for them so they may win in the long run. It will likely come down to how successful the Senator is at working out a way around the law.

We need to shut down EVERY superstore, EVERY mom-and-pop, EVERY service facility and EVERY entertainment facility for THREE days to protest this insanity. Maybe when the ATMs don’t work, or the cellphones quit, or there’s no heat, light and water....
