Report: White House set to cut nuclear arsenal by one-third

President Obama is poised to sign off on a new internal review of U.S. nuclear weapons strategy that would reduce the arsenal by one-third, resulting in billions in savings to the Pentagon and Energy Department.

The recommended reductions were included in a draft version of a classified decision directive compiled by top defense and national security officials inside the White House, according to a report by the Center for Public Integrity issued Friday.

While the president has yet to officially approve the directive, including the recommended one-third cut to the nuclear arsenal, sources tell CPI Obama has voiced no objection to the directive's findings.

Representatives from State Department, Strategic Command, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the office of Vice President Biden also played a part in drafting the directive.

White House officials had pushed to get the new directive finalized late last year, according to the CPI report. However, the administration pushed back against that plan.

Political advisers inside the White House did not want the directive released publicly — especially the information on the reductions — prior to President Obama's reelection bid last November, sources told CPI.

The point was to get Obama out of power, and replace him with someone who would do less damage. Apparently uou missed that important point.Another point you missed was you are responsible now for everything Obama does. Why? Because you wanted to punish the Republican Party. Wow. Brilliant!!!!

BTW, Rove employs the same tactics, only against conservatives. He also is responsible for Obama and Senatorial control remaining in Democrat hands.

No, you don’t feel guilty and that’s up to you. But yeah let’s say something less significant than mormonism or RINOism occurs because you helped reelect Obama, something tiny like 100 million Americans slaughtered in a nuclear war, or the loss of America to a left wing dictatorship.

I bet if you survived you still wouldn’t view it in proper perspective. You’ll blame it on Karl Rove before admitting you made an error.

Whatever. Enjoy all the new Mexican Americans who are about to outnumber you.

Whatever you say Karl. BTW, whatever you subsidize you get more of.....Cantor, McCain, Boner, Dole, Romney, Brown, etc. You may be content with jackasses masquerading as "severe conservatives," and that's fine. They represent your values and you're free to vote for them, but they don't represent mine.

Seems the sheep are content to be sheep, follow the judas goats, and let someone else run the show. But, if it helps you sleep at night, yes, yes I helped elect 0bama.

It's the voter's fault the candidate was piss poor and couldn't get elected within two months of a U.S. Consulate getting attacked, an Ambassador getting sodomized and murdered in the street - that was answered with 0 tactical response and 100% CYA mode. This in a down economy following one of the biggest socialist power grabs in 40+years.

It had nothing to do with his lack of principles, say anything to get elected, anti-gun, pro-abort, pro-socialized medicine, pro-faggot "marriage," lousy excuse for a "platform,"........certainly couldn't be because he in know way represented even 1/2 of the values the base does.....

it be us poor ignorant folk; us evil voters that don't buy his, the GOPe, or your bullshit.

I take full blame......but don't you worry Charlie Brown, Lucy won't pull that football out from you next time.

I’m not sure why we bother. I guess sometimes I get in a fey mood.

But we’re way past the tipping point where even a “good” GOP candidate could bring us back from brink. To say nothing of an unadulterated NE liberal like Romney.

We may be better off to let the whole thing burn and make sure the Democrats are saddled with the mess. It may help for the rebuild.

Or maybe the GOP will get religion and reform.

Or maybe the horse will learn to sing.

Just wait until he gives away our nuclear secrets. That will be his grand finale.

Hoo rah. B4DH... Bump for Duncan Hunter.

Except that the folks in leadership will not have respect any more than they did before. We need to change leadership, just like when the Whigs decided the socons of their day would be a trivial party when they became the republicans.

How many Whigs do you know today?
