Report: White House set to cut nuclear arsenal by one-third

President Obama is poised to sign off on a new internal review of U.S. nuclear weapons strategy that would reduce the arsenal by one-third, resulting in billions in savings to the Pentagon and Energy Department.

The recommended reductions were included in a draft version of a classified decision directive compiled by top defense and national security officials inside the White House, according to a report by the Center for Public Integrity issued Friday.

While the president has yet to officially approve the directive, including the recommended one-third cut to the nuclear arsenal, sources tell CPI Obama has voiced no objection to the directive's findings.

Representatives from State Department, Strategic Command, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the office of Vice President Biden also played a part in drafting the directive.

White House officials had pushed to get the new directive finalized late last year, according to the CPI report. However, the administration pushed back against that plan.

Political advisers inside the White House did not want the directive released publicly — especially the information on the reductions — prior to President Obama's reelection bid last November, sources told CPI.

“Because you guys keep missing the point, the purpose in withholding our vote from Romney is to discipline the GOP.”

The GOP does not select the candidate. The voters do. The problem is the cross-over voted and the poorly informed voters who listen to the MSM saying “Front-runner xyz” until he is the front runner. Then, the MSM turns on him when he’s the candidate and backs the Demcrats.

So because I refuse to vote for a liberal GOP establishment prick who would only have delayed the inevitable by a very short time...

I’m responsible for not only trashing FR, but America too.

Wow, I suddenly feel so guilty. I will go shoot myself now. Sorry for letting you down.

That’s BS and you know it. The GOP establishment selects the candidate with endorsements, with media exposure, with MONEY which the establishment has and the voters do not.

With these huge levers of advantage, the establishment has defacto veto power on who gets the nomination. i.e. they could have barred Romney as being too liberal and controversial. They’ve done it before with others. But they did not do that, so what does that tell you.

It tells me that a. They do not care about what conservatives think and b. they are morons who don’t understand what it takes to be “electable”.

Four years from now i rather expect the nuclear arsenal will be at zero or we may not get quite that far before China decides to take advantage, either with an offer we can no longer refuse or an actual strike.

What’s even more frightening, is the number of Republicans who want to continue helping foreign communist nations to destroy our country with mercantilism and regulations in nearly every locale against American production while pushing anti-family pathologies with government funding (federal funding to state and local governments). The Party looks like the Mardi Gras in New Orleans—that is, more like the Democrat Party in each campaign cycle.

Favored but government-linked and out-of-touch pervert constituents brought every bit of the insanity we see in our economy, society and politics. Don’t blame that on healthier Americans. We’re only watching the crazy show administered by our political, business and academic leaders.

We’re morally bankrupt as a nation. Without real moral conservatism, there will be no fiscal conservatism. Those who claim to be fiscal conservatives aren’t even what they claim to be. They’re pushing for more federal funding to locales from Uncle Samantha, but it’s nearly all debt now.

Maybe the next time a man like Duncan Hunter runs for the presidency, more folks in leadership will have some respect.

Delapaz...pack it up and go home sport. Not voting for Romney gave us the Turd in the White House for 4 more years.

Nothing could be worse.

Yep...your vote really taught everyone a lesson.

Useful idiots...

0bama was re-elected because the moochers, looters and inner city tribal parasites outnumber the producers. You can’t beat Santa Claus. And when the criminal invaders are granted amnesty they will all vote dim and there will never be another Republican POTUS.

As long as you have been here.

After reading all the comments like yours- It is no wonder the conservatives have failed to achieve anything.

You think that you can fight one devil with another devil.

Beyond that you are all just so out in left field that any further explanation is a complete waist of time.

Dinesh D’Souza said if re-elected that Obama would cut ALL US nuclear weapons.

We would NO LONGER BE A NUCLEAR POWER.

Simple fix. All primaries within 30 days of each other and closed. The NE RINO’s keep getting to choose our candidates. By the time we vote here in Texas we don’t have much of a choice.

Stop giving money to party, give to candidate(s) you support.

Well they do such a great job listening to voters.

Did you get permission from your sheepdogs at GOPeHQ to post on FR? I mean how does it work, does it have to go through like a Roveiw process before the post is approved? Or do they just trust as good loyal sheep?
