Menendez Can't Escape Mounting Reports
Roll Call ^

Posted on 02/07/2013 6:54:20 PM PST by SMGFan

The allegations against Sen. Robert Menendez may have started with unsubstantiated stories about trysts with prostitutes, but questions about the lawmaker’s conduct have reached the point where they’re not focused on sex. A slow drip of national news reports about the New Jersey Democrat and his ties to Florida ophthalmologist and political donor Salomon Melgen have put his office on the defensive over an assortment of issues including a port contract in the Dominican Republic and a possible intervention in a Medicare billing dispute involving the doctor. Menendez tried to move forward with his normal agenda Thursday, holding a morning roundtable discussion with Hispanic media outlets about immigration through the Senate Democratic Hispanic Task Force, of which he is chairman.

Even there, however, Menendez was pulled off-topic and denied he exerted improper influence to help Melgen in the Medicare dispute.

“The bottom line is we raised concerns with [Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services] over policy and over ambiguities that are difficult for medical providers to understand and to seek a clarification of that,” Menendez said, according to ABC News and Univision.

They need this guy stuffed, put to pasture, lay this issue to bed, it’s all over but the Boehner tears.

If the Denmocrats are forced to dump this guy, they will get him a job in the media or something to make up for it.

He’s going to have to be arrested before Reid is going to let Chris Christie pick a new Senator for New Jersey.

Why would rich, powerful people have to hire hookers anyways?

Latest is news of a possible fifth plane trip for which Menendez did not reimburse Melgen.

This specific trip just happens to have taken place during the same time frame that the purported trysts with the underage prostitutes occurred.

Brietbart and Daily Caller are tag teaming on this.

“Why would rich, powerful people have to hire hookers anyways?”

Because those things aren’t enough for women (or men) who are looking for substance and a real relationship. One could argue that if the only criteria for whether or not you will be with someone is that they be rich and powerful, then you are already selling yourself for material gain and/or influence.

It’s the old story. They aren’t paying for the sex, they’re paying for them to leave afterwards.
