Former Special Forces Commander: DOD Could Have Flown Rescue Team From Tripoli to Benghazi;...

(CNSNews.com) - Retired Army Lt. Gen. William G. Boykin--formerly commander of U.S. Special Forces Command and deputy undersecretary of defense for intelligence—told CNSNews.com that, if it had been asked, the Defense Department could have sent a plane to Libya on Sept. 11, 2012, to transport a rescue team of U.S. security personnel that instead ended up taking a chartered private plane from Tripoli to Benghazi that night.

“There is no question that we could have moved an airplane in there and we could have also put boots on the ground at the embassy,” Gen. Boykin told CNSNews.com.

“State should have coordinated with DOD and said: We’ve got to have an airplane,” said Gen. Boykin. “The Department of Defense could have provided an airplane in there. All they had to do was ask.”

A Defense Department official told CNSNews.com, however, that the type of aircraft that was used that night and the decision to use it were both determinations made by the State Department. But the Defense Department official also said that DOD would not have been able to get a plane to Tripoli to fly the security team to Benghazi as quickly as the State Department’s chartered plane did.

According to a timeline released by the Office of Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta, the chartered private plane took off from Tripoli and headed to Benghazi with the rescue team about 2 hours and 48 minutes after the terrorist attack in Benghazi started at 9:42 p.m. Libya time.

According to the State Department Accountability Review Board (ARB) report, the department’s temporary duty regional security officer (TDY RSO) in charge of the security detail at the department’s Benghazi mission on Sept. 11, 2012 was monitoring a security camera and saw the terrorists swarm through the front gate of the compound

That was a great link you posted. Love that big font. I felt like screaming. I still do. At least Mark Levin is on it now.

should have

Not when you hate America like Obama and Clinton do. Plus, if it turned into a real fire fight it would have brought to light Obama's illegal gun running to the Jihadis. If this were a GOP administration this would be front and center 25/8.

"My question exactly. Who are they? Where are they? How have they been silenced?"

Yes, and what dark secret are they hiding that is even beyond gun running? The cover-up leads to conspiracy theories. Could they have been transferring chemical weapons to the Syrian Jhadis to fake an attack by Assad's forces, for instance? Could they have been funneling weapons to groups which were known to be transferring them to Gaza to attack Israel? There is more there yet to be uncovered and the missing staff, and maybe locals, probably have the answer but have been disappeared.

The Annex was completely a CIA deal. The 31 individuals there were probably all from the Directorate of Operations proper, and DO agents (that just means people being paid to carry out a task or fulfill some need for the DO).

Those people know what they’re signing on for and can be counted on to dummy-up or disappear if something like this type of disaster occurs —THAT is why the US public has not seen any of them interviewed on TV, answering questions that I think are all valid and excellent.

You can be pretty sure that even if they were questioned publically that they would lie their a$$es off.

I think it is possible that some enhanced interrogation was being carried out by our guys on the 3-5 enemy detainees that were housed there at the Bengazi Annex (and liberated, by the enemy).

If this came out it would show that the Iran-Contra ambitions of Obama went far, far beyond Reagan, and his Abu Ghraib antics far surpassed those of Bush.

I say this because the Drone hypocrisy has already been made clear, as of yesterday.

That’s dynamite. Too bad he didn’t give an attribution but it’s good that it’s getting out there. I would sure like to hear some Fox News talking heads, Congressmen and Senators start spelling it out.

Can’t believe we aren’t able to rig the MANPADS. To not work against friendly AC. Back in the Cold War we rigged a bunch of telecom equipment sold to Poland so that in the event of war, it could be disabled and would have cut the Warsaw Pact com lines running through Poland. Surely we could do better against. A bunch of 7th century Mooselimb terrorists....

The vast majority of the transferred MAPADS were Soviet Block derivatives, not Stinger, et. al.

Soviet Bloc gear is generally constructed with a mind for extreme reliability, which means they are less sophisticated and built with peasants or farmers in mind and so at this level do not have P.A.L.’s, etc.

By contrast usually with Stinger the (very hard to get) battery expires, and the solid fuel will naturally degrade. Probably by now there are additional, new (e.g. electronic) PAL’s they’re using.

Not necessarily... that’s just deaths by drone strike, not unlike Clinton’s effort to use cruise missiles to compensate for being timid on the ground after he got burned in Somalia and ran away with his tail between his legs. Note that it does not offer figures for terrorists killed by more conventional means on the ground by people on the ground, or by other types of aircraft, so we can compare.

3) 0bama turned his back on 41 State Dept. and CIA employees refusing to issue a CBA command and went to bed so he could go to Las Vegas the next day.

That, and he knew that this was just the culmination of a choreographed hostage-taking he could use to justify the release of that "blind sheik" guy.

No need to stay up late for that.

There is nothing this administration will not do to support the Muslim Brotherhood or to undermine the Constitution and endanger the lives of American citizens.
