Findus admits frozen lasagne was made with 99% horsemeat and they don't know for how long
Daily Mail UK ^

Findus has tonight admitted that it has been selling packs of its popular frozen lasagne that were 99 per cent horsemeat.

The news is the first time that it has been confirmed that horsemeat contamination of products sold in the UK has spread beyond beef burgers.

There are concerns that the horse meat used in the lasagne contained the drug bute, which is a known human health risk. Findus was today unable to say how long horsemeat has been used in its products.

That’s just what I thought. If horsemeat wasn’t tasty, then this particular brand of lasagna would not be so popular.

Given the health of the NHS, people should be relieved that it was horse meat, and not “long pork.”

One episode of All in the Family had Edith finding out the meal she cooked contained horsemeat.

Archie: I gotta admit (unaware), you cooked up a real winner tonight.

Mike (who knows): Pretty close, Arch (bangs his hands down on his thighs to simulate hoofbeats)

Archie: Look at that, he doesn’t even use a napkin, the slob!

(Edith runs into kitchen, distraught)

Edith: I can’t help it. It’s from a horse...I mean,
the Queen RIDES a horse

Gloria: Ma, they say it tastes just like chicken

Edith: But the Queen don’t RIDE a chicken!

Bute = phenylbutazone. It’s an NSAID, used like aspirin for minor pain or inflammation, and can cause ulcers in horses if given for too long a time.
Still, people should not be ingesting it.

“the horse meat used in the lasagne contained the drug bute” might this explain Prince Charles?

Well they do say over time a husband and wife start looking more alike.

I thought it meant that the meat was 99% horsemeat and I was wondering what kinbd of meat the other 1% was.

IMHO, this proves that horse meat is a heck of a lot tastier than what it sounds like.

horse meat tastes just fine...it is the psycological thing that keeps most people from wanting it....

Horses are vegetarians and the half-life of "bute" is but hours.

I don't understand the controversy.

In Europe horse meat is popular and generally more expensive than beef.

So they should be charging extra for their lasagna.
