Former Rep. Walsh forming super-PAC to counter Rove

Former Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) is starting his own super-PAC to counter a group conservatives fear will protect establishment candidates from primary challenges.

The tweet by Walsh, the outspoken former congressman, is in response to the creation of the Conservative Victory Project, a super-PAC being launched by Karl Rove, formerly a top adviser to President George W. Bush.

The founders of the Rove super-PAC intend to engage in GOP primary races and back the most electable candidate. The group argues that a number of untested conservative candidates made it through 2012 primaries, only to lose in the general election.

The Conservative Victory Project's formation, though, has sparked strong criticism from a number of GOP grassroots and Tea Party organizations.

"They want power, and they will sacrifice principle for power," said Amy Kremer, the head of the Tea Party Express. "We will not sacrifice principle."

Walsh, a Tea Party favorite, lost his bid for reelection in 2012 to Rep. Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.)

Paraphrasing the original Ann Coulter:

"Electable" gave us Ford, Dole, Romney.

Supporting the crazy conservative gave us President Reagan.

Their 'electable' candidates can't seem to get elected.

The fact that a mere 42 yrs ago Ronald Reagan was re-elected Governor of California tells how far down the tube things have gone in this country.

A “conservative” PAC aimed at defeating the “far right”... lolz... and they think we’d be confused by this?

Unlike the Rove backed and engineered fiasco aka Mitt Romney?

“original Ann Coulter”

What a disappointment she turned into.

Rather hypocritical of Ann as she was one the early supporters of Romney, plus loves Chris Christie!

What is she smoking to complain about the phrase "electable" bringing us such duds as Ford, Dole and Romney?

What about President McCain, Ann, didn't you complain about his opponents?

The real problem with such talking heads like Ann any many others, is that they spend their time trashing most people running in the Primaries so that all we wind up with are the well-heeled, well-funded moderate RINOs that many conservative voters don't even bother to head to the polls on Election Day!

I think this is a PAC to which I would give money, even in this economy. FU Rove.

Oops, I accidentally omitted McCain as one of the ‘electables’ in my paraphrase. Don’t remember exactly when Ann made her statement, but it I believe it was before McCain. Or maybe I just dreamed the whole thing.

I love Joe. He’s the real deal. But his district was refigured and he lost to Duckworth who ran a real sleezeball campaign. I thought he had sights on running for IL governor, but I guess he changed his mind. I’m sending him some money instead of to RINO Sen. Kirk.

I wish Joe walsh the best in his fight against Karl Rove and the establishment. I hope Jim DeMint, Allen West and Sarah Palin can join him in helping defeat The Rovian establishment.

Electable! I remember when they were saying that about Giuliani and later McCain. I remember when they said it about Specter and Chafee too. I remember when they said it and supported that nice Murkowski lady as a write in against the fairly nominated Joe Miller.

I also remember when they sacrificed senate seats in 2010 rather than see tea party candidates become GOP senators.

Make no mistake. These men are the enemy.... far worse than any democrat.

Joe was my congressman and he voted exactly the way we would want/need him to. He is true to his word and definately got under the skin of the likes of Boehner et al.

I am so excited about this pac and plan to get as involved as I can.

He is one of the good guys, smart and strong. He lost in part because a soros funded pac ran by some goof named Susan Crespo, turned out the lies that the lazy voters bought.

If the choice is between a Democrat and a Democrat-lite type, squishy moderate Republican the voters will choose the Democrat. Why the hell is that so hard for the establishment to understand? They keep giving us a Dole, a McCain, and a Romney moderate type only to get our butts kicked in by a hard core lefty and yet they still don’t get it.
