You are right about Lugar. Such a pathetic, poor excuse for a man.... I haven’t voted for him in years. Mourdock well, he opened his mouth and shot himself in the foot. Hopefully in the next election we can get the seat back. I don’t know who would be a good choice. Indiana wants conservative, the RNC doesn’t care. I back the TP candidates, but they need to get the word out more.

The “electable” Romney wasn’t even competitive in the “moderate” states like WA, OR, MD, or VT. Not even in his native MI

Washington and Oregon aren’t “moderate”. They are liberal (Dem) on the west side and conservative on the east side. Which leaves nothing for Romney.

Romney was NOT the perfect anything, but IMO a business man who knows how to run a business when we have a country spending like drug addicts would have been an OK option at this time.
Obama never was a good option, he is going socialist/communist/country/culture destruction at full speed.

southernindymom ,
My dad was from Jeffersonville.

Rubio seemed real good until about a year ago he refused to state his immigration stance. Right then and there I knew while attractive he was going to push amnesty.
puke.
Soooo, how’s winter so far? About 81 with a N.W. breeze of about 6 mph today here.

It’s time to take our party back from the GOPe. Everyone on FR should become active in their local GOP if are not already. Complaining is not enough.

It’s looking more and more like the GOPe is more interested in keeping conservatives out of power than putting Republicans in power.

Excellent analysis—especially about Vermont and Maryland.

Sarah Palin’s picks won—Rove’s lost.

And this was such a critical election year.So much damage could have been avoided had the GOP won these Senate seats.

If Rove worked for the Dems, he could not have done better.

Even amateurs like myself who get a few hours of Limbaugh a week realize that journ-0-list Stephanopolos telegraphed the “war on women” meme in the first R debate.

Excellent point. I remember when Steffie asked that question, my reaction was "WTF?"

Voting is not enough. All conservatives need to be involved in the Republican Party. It is the only way we are going to nominate actual conservatives.

Michael Medved had Karl Rove on his program today. It was a regular lovefest, and it also became clear that Marco Rubio is the anointed candidate of the GOP elites.

If I were to join a Republican committee I would be obliged to support RINO candidates.

I don’t object to people running for Republican committees and getting elected, but be ready to resign and support a third party if the GOP primary results in a RINO ticket.

Some conservatives need to organize third party activity to remind the GOP of the consequences of RINO candidates being forced on conservatives in a primary or caucus.

VOTE FOR AUTHENTIC CONSERVATIVES WHO WILL DOWNSIZE GOVERNMENT AND IMMEDIATELY BALANCE THE BUDGET, OTHERWISE THE FINANCIAL DOOM OF THIS NATION IS SEALED.

Well, the 2014 elections are not that far off. We have plenty of time to work within the GOP to turn things around. If the GOPe make it impossible to make changes from the grass roots level, then we will still have the third party route to take, but right now we do not need to divide our forces. We need to stand together, and we need to get busy.

There is also a flaw with your logic regarding support of third parties: you assume that the GOPe do not understand the consequences of backing RINOs. What if they simply don't care? What if they would rather lose with a RINO than win with a conservative? What if they would rather support a Democrat than a conservative Republican (Deedee Scozzafava for example)? This is why it is so important for conservative involvement in the GOP. We can only depend on ourselves.

One more thing: even with a third party, you will be facing the same problem as in the GOP with keeping moderates and liberals away from the reigns of power.

I would like to see Tea Party groups pick the third candidate ahead of the GOP primary and have that person at least not registered to vote as a Republican so they qualify to be an independent or third party candidate.

The first conservative candidate will contest the RINO in the GOP primary with the GOP knowing if they push the RINO through the primary another conservative will be waiting to contest the general election against them.

Conservatives will never vote for RINO’s under any circumstances again.
