Hagel Vote Postponed
Washington Free Beacon ^ | February 6, 2013 | Adam Kredo

The Senate Armed Services Committee will not hold a vote Thursday on the confirmation of secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel, according to reports.

“Hagel vote won’t be tomorrow in Armed Services,” Politico’s Manu Raju tweeted Wednesday afternoon. “Levin: “The committee’s review of the nomination is not yet complete.’” Foreign Policy’s Josh Rogin also confirmed the delay.

Hagel’s murky financial entanglements are a major concern in the delay, according to sources close to the Senate Armed Services Committee (SASC). Also of concern is a committee investigation into how Hagel and his Senate office handled a 2007 sexual harassment allegation made by a former staff member.

Sen. Ted Cruz (R., Texas) distributed a letter to his Republican colleagues calling on SASC Chairman Carl Levin (D., Mich.) to delay a committee vote until Hagel responds to the numerous questions about his financial entanglements, according to multiple Senate sources.

The letter has garnered at least two dozen signatures thus far, the sources said.

...

Hagel told the committee he was unable to provide further information about possible foreign funding sources for the organizations and corporations he is affiliated with.

...

Hagel’s refusal to provide further information about who funds the organizations and companies he is affiliated with could lead some GOP senators to consider holding up his nomination until the issue is resolved, sources close to the committee told the Free Beacon.

No... They finally figured out Obama is too stupid or incompetent to properly vet his nominee....

Maybe it is all going according to Hussein's plan to keep everyone's eye off his real goal of destroying America's economy and replacing it with socialism. Goodness knows he has enough balls juggling in the air at any one time to distract and entire nation from his real goals. By the end of term 2 we all will look back and wonder in great amazement how the US fell into such a slumber and what happened to the once great powerhouse of a country.

The napscoordinator is on the money. Whoever planned this one for Obama knows exactly what he is doing. Pick a Rino who will, if confirmed, do exactly what the left wants and if he is not confirmed they can rant about how they tried everything possible, they even went so far as to nominate a Republican for the most important slot in the whole cabinet and then the other Republicans refused to confirm him, that proves the GOP is just a collection of nutcases.

Two words: Ted Cruz

That misses the point of my question. Why wasn't Cruz nearly as up in arms about John Kerry as he was about Chuck Hagel?

Opposing Hagel's appointment to the death while allowing Obama's other picks (who are much worse) to slide by makes it look as though Cruz and others are acting on a personal vendetta against Hagel as opposed to ideology or principle.

The question is was Ted Cruz even on the Committee who “vetted” Kerry?
