Dick Morris is gone from Fox News. Meanwhile, Karl Rove has been given a new multiyear contract. But why?
A Fox News spokesman said only that the network chose not to renew Morris' contract. It's not hard to figure out why. Morris was glaringly wrong on the outcome of the 2012 presidential contest, predicting often and loudly that Mitt Romney would win in a romp. Funny thing is that Karl Rove was conspicuously wrong about the presidential results, too. Rove just wasn't as vociferous as Morris, except on Election Night. Even respected conservative elections analyst and commentator Michael Barone called the presidential sweepstakes for Romney. Barone is a Fox News contributor.
Rove is currently involved in a dust up with conservatives over his new PAC, the oddly named Conservative Victory Project. Oddly named because the project isn't designed to elect more conservatives to the U.S. Senate (the Senate is the focus of the PAC's efforts). Per the New York Times:
"The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races."
Those other organizations would include tea parties and the Club for Growth, among other "far-right" groups.
In a blistering commentary at RedState, Erick Erickson writes about Rove's latest venture:
"It is interesting though. The people who brought us No Child Left Behind, Medicare Part D, TARP, the GM bailout, Harriet Miers, etc., etc., etc. are really hacked off that people have been rejecting them. In 2012, about the only successful Republican candidates were the ones who directly rejected the legacy of these people."

The list of shows worth watching on FOX grows shorter by the day. Not really a list anymore. When I end up feeling that I am constantly disagreeing with the people on air, I tend to go elsewhere where I can be entertained, rather than upset.
I wonder how well a show would do if it was set up like a show years ago, where there was a moderator that knew about a topic, and ten or 15 people from government, industry, and academe would discuss a topic and give the pros and cons on an issue. I think it was a public television show, but don’t remember the name. It was truly a good show because no one interrupted, the moderator asked incisive questions, and the answers were allowed sufficient time to put a syllogism together and support it with an example or two from real life.
There is no room for intelligent discussion on anything anymore in the media, because if they did, they could not get by with what they want to do on most things.

I suspect it has a lot more to do with the fact that many of us conservatives have seen the light about which side these clowns are really on.

I stopped watching Fox during the primaries, when they were constantly schilling for Romney. I used to listen to Hannity, but stopped after the election when he said it’s time to cave on immigration. I don’t need to listen to that crap.
the fact he had to come out and state he did not want to exlude conservative primary challengers and he did not want to protect incumbants speaks volumes about the ongoing power of the conservative movement.
The reality is that Greta Van Susteren and her husband, John Coale, are both active members of (and financial contributors to) the Scientology cult. When Van Susteren was frequently visiting with Sarah Palin, my hope was that Mrs. Palin would take the steps to lead her to Christ. And, as a committed Christian, Sarah Palin very well may have started that journey but it's a difficult task to deprogram a Scientologist for they are a very slick bunch and have a glib answer for everything.
The only thing I watch with any consistency anymore on that network is when they rebroadcast Stossel’s show from Fox Business. Everything else I pretty much know exactly what they’re gonna say about everything. Makes it not worth tuning in, aside from ideological differences. I can tune into MSNBC anytime for a good laugh. O’Reilly, Hannity, Huckleby, etc. don’t even live up to that standard. They either make my ears hurt or embarrass me.
Their ideal viewership, I’d guess, would be people like my grandmother. I can’t imagine what she had to sit through for decades on network news. Anything else must still seem like a breath of fresh air.
Don’t forget Hannity, Combs, Gerardo, Beckel, Juan Williams, Shep the s.homo....plus many blonde bimbos.
Ailes is running the network into the ground. I don’t care that they were wrong on their election predictions. That’s politics. I don’t like Stossel and all the libertarian mumbo jumbo. To me, libertarians look a lot like Democrats who don’t want to pay taxes.
“OK, let’s hear the next libertarian.”
“You should be free to do anything you want.”
“Really? (Whap!) I wanted to hit you on the head with a baseball bat. OK, let’s hear the next libertarian.”
I love the PBS channels...their cooking and travel shows are far superior to anything on cable. They show more historical documentaries than History Channel ever did (what is up with the monster shows over there???) And I've become a major fan of Downton Abbey and the documentaries about the Queen that usually follow it.
I even like the (as Mark Steyn calls them) "Twee British comedies" and that Canadian guy Red Green cracks me up. Oh, and This Old House ...Love it. I can't stomach PBS news shows though, with the exception of the Business Report. People like Gwen Ifill are so biased in the extreme that they don't even realize the offensive things they say. And Frontline is just B******t.

I don’t disagree. Among the GOP field running in 2012, Romney had the best chance.
I don’t know that pundit’s over-prediction (how could they have predicted monumental vote fraud?) caused their slump. We just got over-stimulated or over-saturated with too damn much politics for most of 2012 and now only occassionally watch any FNC, do turn on Fox Biz for Cavuto and Varney.
So when are they Dumping and banning Far Left LibTurd Alan Colmes.
Morris simply believed that with everything that was at stake that voters would AT LEAST turn out in numbers that was something close to 2004.
That didn't happen. Republicans stayed home and Democrats got out went to the polls. If you factor in a 2004 Republican voter turn out, Morris was spot on in his analysis.
However, Republicans didn't like Romney and were willing to sacrifice the nation by staying home and letting Obama slide right back into the White House.
Democrats are corrupt and dishonest as hell, but Republicans are spineless and stupid and I don't know which is worse.
