EXCLUSIVE: Justice Dept...reveals legal case for drone strikes on Americans [No Due Process]
NBC ^ | 2/4/13 | Michael Isikoff

Posted on 02/05/2013 2:45:39 AM PST by SoFloFreeper

A confidential Justice Department memo concludes that the U.S. government can order the killing of American citizens if they are believed to be “senior operational leaders” of al-Qaida or “an associated force” -- even if there is no intelligence indicating they are engaged in an active plot to attack the U.S.

The 16-page memo, a copy of which was obtained by NBC News, provides new details about the legal reasoning behind one of the Obama administration’s most secretive and controversial polices: its dramatically increased use of drone strikes against al-Qaida suspects, including those aimed at American citizens, such as the September 2011 strike in Yemen that killed alleged al-Qaida operatives Anwar al-Awlaki and Samir Khan. Both were U.S. citizens who had never been indicted by the U.S. government nor charged with any crimes.

The secrecy surrounding such strikes is fast emerging as a central issue in this week’s hearing of White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan, a key architect of the drone campaign, to be CIA director.

First of all, I want to see scumbag Al Qaeda types eliminated as much as anyone.

Thing is, if they're American citizens, the Constitution says they should receive DUE PROCESS...at least of some sort.

Remember when Bush caught that scumbag who was trying to blow up a dirty bomb? Or that John Walker Lindh asswipe?

The left boo-hooed all day for those idiots. But they weren't executed--today, Obama and his thug Eric the red are killing Americans THEY "deem" to be dangerous.

How long until they target other Americans?

If these ass clowns won't have to try real hard to start a revolt.

Just my humble opinion, but since they are justifying their selves, how long will a prudent group of Americans justify the need to say enough.

DC is playing a game that they have no idea how it will end.

But it won't be pretty for anyone.

Spot on. If this was Bush doing the killing the Left would be having fits. But as it stands, the silence is deafening.

An associated force? Why not "enemy of the people"? Or "counter-revolutionary"?

DC is playing a game that they have no idea how it will end.

So true. These arrogant bahstids think they can invoke chaos and then control the chaos. They are so full of themselves that they think that after a mega-transition, that they will remain unscathed in any way; that they will ride out the storm.

Does anyone doubt that our government already spies on, detains and kills American citizens without due process?

Well it seems our 2nd amendment rights must be defined so that we can purchase these.

Photobucket

There are 20 to 30 K of the Russian version from Libyan arsenals floating around the Magreb. Surely we can pick up a few at bargain prices? Thank goodness Obama made them available to private individuals.

The Current Regime is following almost the same script that was in play in Argentina during the 1970’s, when “death squads” were active in the country, taking out what were euphemistically called “communist” elements, but in practice, just about anybody who raised an objection to the activities and methods of the authoritarian Peronistas. And this included other “Peronista” elements who chose to disagree with the imperial powers lodged in Buenos Aires.

These squads would maintain telephone and visual surveillance on any suspect of their choosing, and would sometimes not strike directly, but at family members and relatively innocent associates of the targeted individuals, creating a terroristic atmosphere and a vast amount of induced paranoia. There were dark tales of persons who were “disappeared” and sent to rendition prisons far from their homes, but few episodes of later return.

Richard Nixon was accused of doing just this sort of thing, but that was never demonstrated even during the darkest days of Watergate. The Current Regime, however, has managed to escape such a tarbrush, even though they DO actively practice such a “secret police” approach through the provisions of Homeland Security regulations.

The storm approaches.

Not for one minute. Too many unexplained or suspicious deaths lately to think that there isn't some kind of collusion going on.

The possibility exists they are trying to create fear for the purpose of control. A paranoic society if you will in constant fear, and always looking up to the skies is a controllable society in the sense that even the most brazen of opposition leaders, and say opposition bloggers would temper their critique, their assertiveness, their aggressiveness of the government for fear of being targeted by Fearless Leader.

A possibility.

There goes the Fifth and Seventh Amendments. Any sensible person knew those two would follow the First (HHS mandate ignoring the free exercise clause), Second (massively ignored by NY, Chicago, DC, and ATF), Fourth (TSA, online monitoring, warrantless searches), Sixth (The Martin-Zimmerman prosecution intentionally tainting the jury pool, with the full support of the Holder's Department of "Justice"), Eighth (ObamaCare $1.3 million per day fines on Hobby Lobby as just one example), Ninth (massively ignored), and Tenth (massively ignored) Amendments into oblivion.

Some day our grandchildren will ask, "What was freedom like?" What will we answer? "It was fabulous, but now we have all the free birth control that even the biggest floozies at Georgetown University could use and we decided that would be even better. Besides, I'm sure the people our government kills deserve it, and trials just waste time and money."

What’s new about this?

The terrorist attacks have been following the Weather Underground playbook since the 1st WTC bombing in 1993.

The Weather Underground screwed up when it used domestic terrorist for the attacks in association with the civil unrest they were stirring up prior to the attacks. It was simply criminal acts.

By ginning up civil unrest then using foreign terrorist for the attacks it becomes an act of war.

Since 1993 ‘s WTC bombing, prior to each and every major attack, attempted attack, or threat of attack the left has always ginned up civil unrest, attempted to gin up civil unrest, or had a plan to gin up civil unrest.

In 2009 the Obama administration with the help of their allies in the MSM began orchestrating news stories of the “Violent Tea Party” and how the “Tea Party” was nothing more than a bunch of Tim McVeigh wanna bees.

Low and behold in 2010 there was a car bombing attempt in NYC, and because it was a fertilizer bomb that proved it just had to be the “Violent Tea Party” behind the attack.

Turned out to be a muslim and he was caught. Because the bomb didn’t go off there was no mass panic and the news media suddenly went silent on the “Violent Tea Party”. The bombing attempt was pretty much ignored.

Had that bomb gone off the msm would have tied the Tea Party to collaborating with muslims terrorist to wage war against the US.

The Tea Party would be an “associate” of al Qaida today.

If the Obama administration can successfully tie some militant group, be it on the left or on the right, with collaborating with foreign terrorist to wage war against the US, you will have federal troops in the streets.

Don’t kid yourselves. Our troops will fire on American citizens if they believe those citizens are waging war against the US.

Obamadrone strikes on Americans are what Obama probably meant when he has frequently said: “Every American deserves a ‘fair’ shot. “

Perhaps. But if the SHTF, I'd be very, very surprised if a sizable number of our troops did not either throw down their weapons and refuse, or actively join the other (our) side.

We are supposed to take comfort knowing that when the administration assissinates an American Citizen it will be legal. Where are the civil libertarians? Will they throw a giant $hit-fit like the did for Bush’s wire-tapping or will they sell out like NOW and the NAACP because the current batch has a ‘D’ after their names?
