How a discordant Senate band got back together on immigration
LA Times ^ | Brian Bennett and Lisa Mascaro

Posted on 02/03/2013 2:10:35 PM PST by JohnPDuncan

Schumer came with Democratic Sens. Robert Menendez of New Jersey and Richard J. Durbin of Illinois. Graham and McCain brought fellow Republican Sen. Mike Lee of Utah.

It was clear to the senators that one voice could prove crucial to their hope to sell a plan to conservatives: Sen. Marco Rubio, a Florida Republican and Cuban American with conservative credentials, who could become a champion untainted by past scars over immigration.

Soon after that meeting, Durbin was in the Senate gym and spotted Rubio pedaling a stationary bike.

"Marco, you got to be there," Durbin said. "I want you there because of your position in the party."

There was a catch: Rubio, like all senators in the group, had to agree that any bill would create a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants and would emphasize family unification.

"Are you willing to accept these two things?" Durbin asked.

"Yes," Rubio said. "Of course, I want to talk about how it's done."

Rubio had his own conditions: to ramp up border security first and make sure illegal immigrants go to the back of the line when applying for legal permanent residency, among other things.

Durbin called Schumer: Rubio was in.

"I have gotten more done in the Senate gym than almost any room in the Capitol complex," said Durbin, who described the encounter while in his Capitol office, where he keeps a copy of his Lithuanian mother's naturalization paper framed behind glass with the receipt for the fee she paid: $2.50.

As Rubio came on board, Lee stepped aside. He didn't agree with the emerging consensus on the pathway to legal status and the proposal to give agricultural workers a faster path to citizenship.

Bravo Sen. Mike Lee, he wants nothing to do with this treacherous act.

Rubio is taking orders from the neocons Rubio just hired an amnesty-loving neocon for his staff. Invasion-crazed neocons want ‘immigration reform’ at any cost because they need impoverished Hispanics as cannnon fodder for future puke invasions/land wars.

Loser McCain is the perrenial puke puppet----the pukeneo prez favorite.

Rove is a neocon puppet---he does their bidding b/c he deadended after Romney lost----when he dances to their tune, the pukeneos will handover the money he sorely needs.

Looks like the pukes have been entertaining at the Four Seasons----Lindseed, Ryan and Newt have also been puke-duped, repeating the current GOP mantra: "I support the Rubio immigration reform plan"

=============================================

The pukeneos never saw an immigrant they didn't want to subsidize with tax dollars---dating back to WW 11. The contemporary Russian trek to the US is s-o-o-o-o profitable, they got Russians pretending they're Jews so they can stop off in Israel first---grab all the US subsidized freebies there---then fly here to sign up to ride the US gravy train. As refugees seeking "asylum from persecution" the US gravy train speeds up----the freebies are tripled.

==================================================

Mmmmm......sure would like to be a fly on the wall at the Four Seasons---where the puke elite meet downtrodden GOP'ers---- over chilled Cristal, imported room temp Brie and water crackers.

Course there's gonna be A LOT MORE puke-invasions and land wars since the pukes duped Bush into invading Iran. Now that the entire 100 million-strong Muslim world is aflame with hatred for the US, Americans, and Christians.

I guess the pukes will have to use darts and a Mideast map to decide which country they want the US to invade next (cackle).

I think also making them legal turns America into a permanent socialist country, without question.

There is no going back from this. It will ensure Texas and Arizona for example turns Democrat.

Several years ago I got into it with Senator Sherrod Brown over immigration. He wasn’t interested in anything I had to say and finally said, “Let’s do the amnesty first and then we can talk about how high to build the fence and how many border agents we need.” I told him he could go ____ himself.

The Dominican Republic PTB, Obama, and amnesty-pushers on Capitol Hill want Menendez's Caribbean diddle-a-thon to go away.

Bobby (The Diddler) Menendez's troubles are throwing a monkey wrench into Obama's plans for amnesty---which was sailing along rather smoothly...even Repubs started to cave.

Obama confidently tapped Bobby for a lead role in the amnesty effort--as Bobby traveled far and wide as the point man for amnesty. Obama figured Menendez was a natural---him being a latino victim who overcame adversity (sob).

Now, NBC-TV reports Dem leaders met in secret to discuss the problem but are supporting Menendez, for now — publicly, at least.

You gotta believe the Obama admin is exerting molto pressure on Dems to stand firm (excuse the expression) behind Menendez. Any deviation could be fatal to Obama's plans to establish a permanent Dem majority by conjuring up new Dem voters from all those latinos pouring over our borders.

JUST A THOUGHT....wonder if any of those Dominican Republic little girls Booby likes to diddle were slipped in (excuse the expression) to Obama's amnesty plans?

======================================

Menendez's problems have effectively exposed that male/female child prostitution is rampant in the Third World.....and would be a collateral effect of amnesty.

The cynical among us see the push for amnesty on Capitol Hill concealing a dark, corrupt hidden agenda.

Underage males/females cannot legally consent to sex - therefore it is considered Statuatory Rape in civilized countries. That would change w/ amnesty. PULL THE PLUG ON AMNESTY NOW---Obama tapped Menendez for a lead role in the push for amnesty--now we discover Menendez has plenty to hide.

Send the word out far and wide--legislators pulling for amnesty (despite Americans distaste for it)---who have foreign connections had better come clean now.

NO AMNESTY UNTIL WE KNOW THE SCOPE AND DIMENSION OF MENENDEZ'S FINANCIAL INVOLVEMENT W/ THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC GOVERNMENT

NO AMNESTY until we know whether Menendez is being blackmailed to push amesty in exchange for erasing videos of his involvement w/ underage prostitutes.

NO AMNESTY UNTIL WE KNOW whether other amnesty-prone legislators are being blackmailed

NO AMNESTY UNTIL WE KNOW THE SCOPE AND DIMENSION OF amnesty supporters possible involvement w/ foreign governments.

NO AMNESTY UNTIL WE KNOW THE SCOPE AND DIMENSION OF administration officials' communiques w/ foreign govts WRT amnesty.

NO AMNESTY UNTIL WE KNOW THE SCOPE AND DIMENSION OF financial deals amnesty supporters might have with foreign governments.

NO AMNESTY until The Hispanic Caucus is scrutinized WRT its sconnections with foreign governments.

I hope someone takes these bastards names down for posterity as those who finished off what Reagan referred to as the City on the Hill.

What amazes me is that we have people who still consider Marco Rubio a “conservative”. Rubio is Amnesty Liberal to the core, and will not stop pushing Rubio-Obama Amnesty.

And from this article...he is taking orders from the Democrats

Both Rubio and obama are perfect examples of why the founders put in the natural born citizen requirement....mixed loyalties.

When are conservatives finally going to figure out that they get used by the GOP just like blacks, hispanics, gays get used by the Democrats?

Those are the same open border hacks who have always been for amnesty.

“I think also making them legal turns America into a permanent socialist country, without question.

There is no going back from this. It will ensure Texas and Arizona for example turns Democrat.”

And it was so much easier than trying to convince the public that all this unfettered illegal immigration is anything but dangerous.

RE :”When are conservatives finally going to figure out that they get used by the GOP just like blacks, hispanics, gays get used by the Democrats?”

I have long concluded that the term ‘conservatives’ is way overused. I almost never use the term anymore because of that.
This story supports that.
It reminds me of ‘The Force’ in the Star Wars Saga.,

In 2010+early 2011 Paul Ryan was sold as our next conservative messiah, the budget wizard boy wonder who would tie O in knots with his budgets.
I smelled a rat in it from the start. Now he has shown himself as just another dull tool.

RE :”Okay, what term would you prefer? GOP Useful idiots? You tell me what we should call our selves collectively.”

I understand why you use the term, it's the ‘anti-GOP/Democrat-them’ group, In a way we are the 'lost souls' as we find outselves in this country we dont recognize anymore'

I recall back in 2006/2007 when we were opposing McCain/Bush amnesty here someone here (who we dont like at all) refered to us as ‘border-bots’.

On a slightly different but related note, recall Patrick J. Buchanan – August 17, 1992 RNC Speech

My friends, this election is about much more than who gets what. It is about who we are. It is about what we believe. It is about what we stand for as Americans. There is a religious war going on in our country for the soul of America. It is a cultural war, as critical to the kind of nation we will one day be as was the Cold War itself. And in that struggle for the soul of America, Clinton & Clinton are on the other side, and George Bush is on our side. And so, we have to come home, and stand beside him.
1992 Republican National Convention Speech Monday Patrick J. Buchanan - August 17, 1992

He was right, and we lost.
