AFP - A Saudi preacher who raped his five-year-old daughter and tortured her to death has been sentenced to pay “blood money” to the mother after having served a short jail term, activists said on Saturday.
Lamia al-Ghamdi was admitted to hospital on December 25, 2011 with multiple injuries, including a crushed skull, broken ribs and left arm, extensive bruising and burns, the activists said. She died last October 22.

I have a very close friend tell me the same thing. I was flabbergasted and didn’t even know where to begin. Apparently, in college she had a member of the saudi royal family (lower caps intentional), 13th or so from the crown, as a roommate. She had gone to visit her and was treated very well. None of the females at that time were wearing veils - this was maybe 20-25 yrs ago. Once I was able to speak, I told her that things had changed.
I had to regroup as I didn’t want to lose her as a friend. She is a good person but with a severely autistic son, she doesn’t have much time for current events. I asked her to change the subject and never bring it up in my presence again. I am NOT going to forward her articles or pictures. One day, she will see the light and I will be here if she needs any clarification.

I think your friend probably grew up with a mother or father who were overly polite and taught to never say anything critical of people if you cannot say something good. Much of weak-spined America today were no doubt raised with this go-along-to-get-along upbringing.
