Posted on 02/03/2013 8:15:49 AM PST by kristinn
The biggest donors in the Republican Party are financing a new group to recruit seasoned candidates and protect Senate incumbents from challenges by far-right conservatives and Tea Party enthusiasts who Republican leaders worry could complicate the partys efforts to win control of the Senate.
The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles. It is the most robust attempt yet by Republicans to impose a new sense of discipline on the party, particularly in primary races.
There is a broad concern about having blown a significant number of races because the wrong candidates were selected, said Steven J. Law, the president of American Crossroads, the super PAC creating the new project. We dont view ourselves as being in the incumbent protection business, but we want to pick the most conservative candidate who can win.
The effort would put a new twist on the Republican-vs.-Republican warfare that has consumed the partys primary races in recent years. In effect, the establishment is taking steps to fight back against Tea Party groups and other conservative organizations that have wielded significant influence in backing candidates who ultimately lost seats to Democrats in the general election.
The first test of the groups effort to influence primary races could come here in Iowa, where some Republicans are already worrying about who will run for the seat being vacated by Senator Tom Harkin, a Democrat. It is the first open Senate seat in Iowa since 1974, and Republicans are fearful of squandering a rare opportunity.

This should read: Socialist/Progressive “establishment” soliciting funds from anti-Conservatives to destroy America.
Do these idiots understand that they are poking a stick into a hornet's nest?
Do these idiots understand that they are poking a stick into a hornet's nest?
NO RINOs and their backstabbing dirty tricks
So let me get this straight - the same folks who destroyed the GOP brand during the Bush era, and who pushed the one candidate Obama could beat in 2012, have issues with the Tea Party, which put the GOP back in power in the House, over a couple of marginal candidates.
Rove is a very slow learner...or he just wants to continue collecting big bucks from donors who don’t know what’s going on.
The Democrat-Lite wing of the GOP may kill off the TEA Party primary candidates, but they will definitely not win in the general election because the TEA Party members will stay home. So the Democrat Socialists will retain the Senate and help themselves to the bank accounts of the super rich through punitive tax policy. The only winners are the Socialists and Karl Rove.
I’m really getting tired of this fat pig Rove. He and his gang are the guys who destroyed the republican party, and he wants to blame everyone but himself.
They don’t like how Cruz from Texas beat their establishment boy Dewhurst, backed by the Bush family.
Cruz, a TEA backed senator, has been better than any of them so far. And what did the GOP give us? ,,,Murkowski.
“Pick the Target, Freeze It, Personalize It and Polarize It.”
Rove is just the front man, the huckster waving his hat around and selling his snake oil. What is important is to keep your eye on who is paying the bills, not who is doing the shouting.
These fellows who are supporting this fund are not interested in RINOs so much as they are interested in protecting their investments. You see, RINOs are easily bought, and I imagine that the folks who have done the buying would not like to see their bought-and-paid-for Senators get tossed out on their ears by a herd of people who do not have their interests at heart, and who will put in place someone who may not “buy” quite as easily as the last guy...
What’s funny is, who do they think they’re fooling with that moniker? Idiots...
Sure, why not? They’ve been so successful in the past in picking unprincipled, limp-wristed, “go along to get along”, communist-lite, losers and wimps... this sounds like another winning strategy of the dumba$$ “party”.
They may have the money, but we have the votes.
Boy, did they get a polite earful, as I told them I gave tidy sum(s) to give Romney a majority in the Senate and only Ted Cruz won, and you guys dropped the ball. Told them They are done they just don't know it yet, you (the GOP) divorced us a long time ago, we are moving out soon, and I am waiting for Col. West and Sarah Palin to start a new Conservative Party, have a nice day Sir....Needless to say, they didn't get a dime....
Target #2 “Big John” Corn-in. His ego is so big it makes an easy target.
We will just build another nest...
Here are our new Party's Leaders...
It's a matter of teaching Tea Party candidates the right responses.
For example, teach them never to legitimatize rape.
Teach them to avoid all questions about the earth being 6,000 years old.
Just a little teaching, that's all.
When I got my request for a donation, I told them my donation went to the NRA because they are a no-compromize results-oriented organization.
Governor Terry Branstad .... Does anyone know his conservative credentials, etc. He’s been elected to the state house 3 times, Lt. Gov and Gov. from 1983 - 1999 and again elected Gov. in 2010. Apparently he’s electable statewide.
Iowa seems to me to be a split state with a Democrat and Republican Senator, 4 US Representatives split 2 each, Obama won in 2012, State Senate 26-24 Democrat, State House 53-47 Republican.
Statewide appeal is going to be a major determinant in who wins he Senate seat, imo.
Akins was not the TEA choice. Steeleman was. Sara Palin even campaigned for her.
The group, the Conservative Victory Project, is intended to counter other organizations that have helped defeat establishment Republican candidates over the last two election cycles.
The simple fact is, they aren’t going to avoid those questions because the media knows the “Moderates” will fall over themselves condemning the answers in an attempt to appear “rational”.
Maybe the “moderates” should stop dancing to the democrat tune.
We all know that but akin grabbed the mantle and the MSM obliged him
This all proves that the establishment GOP and the Democrats are one in the same. They think alike and are both bought and paid for by big money donors. The Tea Party is the only thing keeping the GOP relevant and intact as a political entity and the bluebloods know it but still they refuse to admit to the truth and are in the process of destroying themselves. I have never liked the idea of a third party and always believed in changing the Republican Party from within, but the establishment is determined to wipe conservatives out so maybe it’s time to say the hell with them and leave thus ensuring the GOP to go out the way of the Whigs and other defunct political parties.
rove is the REASON Akin lost. Yeah, I know what he said, but it could have been overcome if rove and his sychophants hadn’t pulled the rug out from under him.
Sarah Palin has endorsed a lot of losing candidates. The thing is that she’s bright enough to offer her endorsement then stay the hell out of races.
Karl Rove can have the GOP. It is going to lose, maybe it is supposed to lose. I would like to be part of a group that wants revolutionary change, i.e., a return to Constitutional principles. We can ally with Republicans on occasion, but we need our own structure, or we will be treated like Rove is doing here.
Sounds like the GOPe is interested in bondage.
I have a question for these people: Why do you want to win?
If you get what you want, and if your candidates achieve 51 or 52 seats in the Senate, what will be different?
Just no more idiots like Akin and Mourdock, please.
Let's further eleborate on this:
Obama and the communist left have a strategy to fracture and split the Repbulican party so that they can dominate the general elections. Divide and conquer.
Karl Rove and the RINO right have a stategy to split conservatives off from the Repbulican party so that they can dominate the republican primaries. Divide and conquer.
Enemies of Obama and the communist left = Tea Party
Enemies of Karl Rove and the RINO right = Tea Party
Now, Karl Rove and the RINO right MUST KNOW that making war on conservative Tea Party patriots will drive conservative Tea Party patriots away from their RINO candidate in the general elections. They must know this. They just can't be that dumb. So what do conclude from this then? That Karl Rove and the RINO right have the same agenda as Obama and the communist left?
Correct. The only good news about the latest losses by the two morons fumbling the rape issue, is that they are nowhere near the controls to do even stupider things.
If any future non-rhinos get a chance to take on a rat, they must stay out of the fringes.
Sounds like King is the one they are targeting...you are correct
However, one way to counter Karl Rove is to make him a campaign issue. Just run his “Fox News meltdown” and link the RINO candidate to Amer Crossroads.....”Karl Rove supports liberal ideas....and he is funding (candidate).....Democrats love Rove’s candidates because they can beat them (cue photos of McCain, Romney)”
The bottom line is that the big money in this country wants their interests protected with our tax dollars and the national debt if necessary (the W 2008 Bailout).
Conservatives like me don’t want big business and big labor unions being bailed out by the taxpayer.
They call this the “Conservative Victory Fund”........
OVER 90 PERCENT OF THE REPUBLICANS WE HAVE ELECTED FAKE BEING CONSERVATIVE, THEY ARE PHONY BALONEY BOUGHT AND PAID FOR BUSINESS AS USUAL POLITICIANS.
Its time for either real conservative candidates to win GOP primaries or if that fails, third party conservative candidates waiting to run in the general elections.
We need two real conservatives ready to run in every race.
One for the GOP primary, one for the general election as independent, third party etc. if a RINO wins the Republican race.
And no more drunken idiot in name only candidates like Connie Mack IV here in Florida who had no other qualification to run for senate than his name. We should have long ago gotten rid of Bill Nelson (D), but the republican brand, easily beat RINO just had to be shoved out there for the party’s (and the democrat’s) sake.
But then it seems that is all the RINOs have to offer anyone today. They want to give the win to the democrats. The socialist democrats and the socialist republicans are one. The big problem I see with this organization is that everyone wants the title conservative today, whether they are really socialists and Reagan’s worst enemies or not. If they were honest about themselves, they would not get one dime, hence the subterfuge.
Rove is continuing his meaningless journey in search of personal relevance. He lacks the education, class and character to resign from politics, and do something useful.
They call themselve the Conservative Victory Party but they don’t want any tea party conservatives...?
This is war between the corporate fascists who contribute to BOTH parties (to which the RNC and their consultants respond) and the limited-government grass roots. Conservatives are stingy while consultants make their money on the basis of booking advertising and other expenses. Hence the internal divide.
That sounds like a plan. Will pass it along to my Tea Party group.
I have a suggestion for the Republican candidate for Mass Senator to replace John Kerry, this guy.
Robert A. Hall is an actor. He plays the coroner on CSI if you watch that show. He also is a Marine Vietnam War veteran, but does not mention that he had his legs blown off in that war.
This should be required reading for every man, woman and child in the United States of America .
“I’m 63 and I’m Tired”by Robert A. Hall
I’m 63. Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked hard since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.
I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.
I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.” Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought Mc Mansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble use their own money to help them.
I’m tired of being told how bad America is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities America provided to them. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States will have:
1. the economy of Zimbabwe,
2. the freedom of the press of China
3. the crime and violence of Mexico,
4. the tolerance for Christian people of Iran
5. the freedom of speech of Venezuela ..
I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers”; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery”; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Sharias law tells them to.
I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S. Senators from Illinois.
I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly in an all-knowing government.
I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must not complain when Saudi Arabia uses the money we pay for their oil to fund mosques and madras Islamic schools to preach hate in America, while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in Saudi Arabia to teach love and tolerance.
I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.
I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think gay people choose to be gay, but I #@*# sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from “cool” people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.
I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially those who aren’t working, but living on welfare or crime. What’s next? Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”? And, no, I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion. I’m willing to fast track citizenship for any Hispanic who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military. Those are the kind of citizens we need.
I’m tired of the trashing of our military by latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war? You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave? Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are? Not even close. So here’s a deal for those folks. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, while the critics of our military can be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia because the girls were Christian — then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.
I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in Illinois , where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats has looted the public treasury for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet.
I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about “innocent” mistakes, “stupid” mistakes or “youthful” mistakes, when all of us know they think their only mistake was getting caught.
Speaking of poor, I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement who have air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor.” The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.
I’m real tired of people, rich or poor, who don’t take responsibility for their lives and actions. I’m tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.
Yes, I’m tired, but I’m also glad to be 63, mostly because I’m not going to have to see the world these people are making. I’m just sorry for my granddaughter.
Robert A. Hall is a Marine Vietnam veteran who served five terms in the Massachusetts State Senate.
There is no way this will be widely publicized, unless each of us sends it on!
Not Louie Gohmert?
I think we will truly be moving toward a robust third party.
All you really need to know about this bunch of snivellers is that Dingy Harry Reid would be gone if they had sucked it up and supported Sharon Angle. Rove and his band of geniuses give whining a bad name and now they want to corrupt the word “conservative”. It’s necessary to make them define conservative every time they mouth-shoot.
I have no problem with donors selecting whom they give money to.
I don’t think its wise to attack Karl Rove. He may be right and if he is he deserves a chance to throw his money and talent at the wall in trying.
I would just ask that he try to avoid stepping upon our toes. Until then I won’t lift a finger in opposition to his melding.
