New Obama directive will shorten visa wait for illegal aliens with U.S. spouses (Amnesty)

An estimated hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants married to U.S. citizens will soon have an opportunity to become legal residents without having to serve a years-long punishment.

President Obama proposed the policy change in January 2012 and it is scheduled to go into effect March 4.

The change was proposed to end situations in which illegal-immigrant spouses (and often parents) have to return to their native countries to serve the “ban of admission” – as long as 10 years for staying illegally in the United States for more than a year.

Why the HELL do we even need a legislative branch?

Law is now written by executives and judges...not the representatives of the people.

This is a tricky one. In general, I think any illegal entry into our country should lead to fingerprinting and a permanent ban on reentry or just about any path to citizenship. Marriage to a US citizen is different though, and I’d have to see the details and give that particular situation some though.

Since “Over Lord Sub Commander Zero” chooses which laws will be enforced, which will be ignored and which he can break himself I suggest the rabble do the same.

It was well known that another 4 years of Obama would be a nightmare, but there were just too many of us that didn’t give a damn.

Hang on, it’s going to be a heck of a ride.

Ah, we had hoped that Mitt would have made half as much hay out of this kind of stuff as he did about questionable allegations concerning his GOP rivals. We knew the score, but so many conservative minded Americans have just tuned out.

RE: shorten visa wait for illegal aliens with U.S. spouses (Amnesty)

What if the illegal alien had a gay spouse?

I could understand the mechanism of a wink-n-nod to squatters in such circumstances, but how does he ever expect courts to buy it? And none of the Democrats feeding on this stuff are going to ask how he can do it.

Will encourage the marriage factory to come alive again....$1,000 in your pocket to marry illegal so they can become a US citizen.

Near Austin, TX they are/were doing this and the same guy had about 8 marriages and divorces.

IF you want an illegal spouse, follow the law or what was the law.

Nobody would get married just to take advantage of this.

It would NEVER happen.

Heh.

Of course the ever-cynical Obama knows exactly what is going to happen.

Pollster,

The basic idea behind the penalty was to stop sham marriages.

If someone comes here on a 6 month visa, falls in love, and marries an American, that is reasonably straight forward, and the non-American, in some cases, might not even have to leave the country to get the proper papers.

On the other hand, if someone comes here on a 6 month visa, gets arrested here 3 years later, and then suddenly marries an American, most likely that's completely bogus, and the penalty kicks in.

My sentiments exactly when I read this.

And it doesn't matter what issue it is - immigration, "healthcare," guns, you name it - the executive office have obviously just decided to skip that tiresome lawmaking phase and go right on to the decree from The Won on high.

My only question is why our legislators are not screaming their collective heads off at being so blithely ignored. If nothing else, it shows us that they are clearly not necessary and shouldn't be getting their paychecks.
