Senator Mike Johanns said on Saturday he would support fellow Nebraskan Chuck Hagel for secretary of defense, becoming the second Republican in the Senate to express public support for President Barack Obama's embattled nominee.

The Lincoln, Nebraska, JournalStar reported on its website that Johanns, a former Nebraska governor who holds Hagel's old Senate seat, issued a statement supporting Hagel. An aide to Johanns confirmed the report.

Not surprising. Johanns is as dumb as Hagel.

THIS is why we need to elect more GOP candidates. They make such wise and informed choices.

/s

Just as a side note, the list of reasons to continue supporting the GOP now comes down to “They aren’t Democrats.’ And that is most assuredly arguable given their votes/positions in the last couple years.

Let me guess, there won’t be massive cuts in military bases in Nebraska.
The other states will have to beat their swords into plowshares.

They must need a few R’s take this guy across the finish line. McConnell must have designated a few of them.

It’s not unusual, no matter what, for a Senator to vote for a nominee from his/her state. Especially if the nominee is allegedly of the same party.

I’m surprised with all the negative talk following his confirmation hearings and knowing just how poorly he did, Hagel didn’t ask to have his name withdrawn. But I think it’s important to Obama to have a nominal R as SecDef to see
the massive cuts that are coming, and the attendant damage to the U.S. military. Panetta also began his political career as a nominal R, as I recall.

I guess that's his slogan:

"Hagel: Because The Alternatives Could Be So Much Worse"

That's because he realizes unless you're a conservative from Texas , a Senator will get confirmed as long as he can fog up a mirror.

Can you IMAGINE how serious a womanizer Tower had to have been to be denied that post by his colleagues? He certainly was well-informed about all matters military, and I don’t think anyone denied that. To be a standout in the Senate for womanizing almost boggles the mind.

I wonder in retrospect .. didn’t Tower serve with Bentsen who was the running mate vs. Bush 41? All Texans? Maybe a little intrastate payback from old Lloyd? Maybe Lloyd didn’t like the way 41 made fun of ole Maw Richards at the GOP convention.

Quite simple, really.

The Dems outnumbered the Republicans 55-45. Unlike the GOP-e, liberals hold rank on important votes.

It’s why they eventually prevail on most issues.

How many more examples will it take to wake up brain dead Republicans?

Now it is clear that the party can’t be fixed. Throw it away and get a new one.

The rotten apples are permanently in the barrel and have infected all of the rest with progressive rot.
