New Jersey Republicans are accusing Sen. Bob Menendez (D., N.J.) of having violated Senate ethics rules by failing to disclose or seek Senate permission for air travel and lodging provided by a wealthy campaign donor.

This is an old article, but it appears that some untimid New Jersey state senators got the ball rolling on the ethics investigation of Menendez. Kudos to them.

If the Middlesex County Republican Organization can do it, then IMHO Congressional Republicans should have already done it.

The fact that they have not done it yet speaks volumes.

Actually, they probably have done “it”— a different “it”— and that may be the reason they are silent.

Al Capone getting nailed for tax evasion——they will investigate his failure to report the trips and “gifts”, and let the underage Dominican prostitutes issue twist in the wind. It’s not being TOTALLY ignored though: yesterday’s
Bergen Record (NJ, where I live) devoted a lengthy article to Menendez’s relationship to this donor Doctor friend of his,but did include the obligatory 3 paragraphs at the end to the issue everyone is really interested in> As everyone knows the FBI has seized records from the Dr.’s office, and who knows whether that was just to deal with the first issue, or a fishing expedition with details that might support the both the first issue and the second.
I notice that Menendez isn’t hanging around public appearances for too long these days, but was present there at the Hillary farewell love-fest. Menendez has been a fixture in NJ for nearly as long as I’ve lived here (25+ years) and he embodies the classic loyal Ethnic Democrat, identity politics at its worst.

Just like with Rangel and Maxine Waters the matter will be sent to an ethics committee for investigation and will die.

The FBI ‘seizing’ the doctors’ records is just part of the cover-up.

After all the FBI ‘seized’ the Solyndra records the day that scandal became public and we have never heard of them again.

Forget the senate rules. If Menendez went to the DR and had sex with underage (according the the US laws) girls, he's committed a federal crime that can get him some serious jail time. That law was set up to shut down "sex tours" to countries like Thailand. But it certainly applies here. Plus, from what I hear, Menendez voted FOR that law!
