Big brother to log your drinking habits and waist size (UK NHS)

GPs are to be forced to hand over confidential records on all their patients’ drinking habits, waist sizes and illnesses.

The files will be stored in a giant information bank that privacy campaigners say represents the ‘biggest data grab in NHS history’.

They warned the move would end patient confidentiality and hand personal information to third parties.

The data includes weight, cholesterol levels, body mass index, pulse rate, family health history, alcohol consumption and smoking status.

Diagnosis of everything from cancer to heart disease to mental illness would be covered. Family doctors will have to pass on dates of birth, postcodes and NHS numbers.

Officials insisted the personal information would be made anonymous and deleted after analysis.

But Ross Anderson, professor of security engineering at Cambridge University, said: ‘Under these proposals, medical confidentiality is, in effect, dead and there is currently nobody standing in the way.’ Nick Pickles, of the privacy group Big Brother Watch, said NHS managers would now be in charge of our most confidential information.

newsflash

medical confidentiality is already dead. The insurance has a big database where anybody can see any blasted thing. This was true even before ubamacare.

If the personal data will be made anonymous and deleted, why collect it in the first place?

How expensive will this be for Doctors to have a girl sit on a computer and keep adding all of this crap to the government every day? Its isn’t bad enough they have to keep their own records, they have to send all this junk to the Government?

Exactly why I always lie about my smoking and drinking habits. Luckily I am in hood shape so they can’t get me on weight.

Knowing them it won’t deleted and it won’t anonymous. They probably will use to document everything from how much to pay in taxes to forcing your employers to mandate if you need to join an exercise program. This is basically what went on in the book A Brave new World By Aldous Huxley. They even were able to create the perfect baby based on what the parents wanted genetically.

Diagnosis of everything from cancer to heart disease to mental illness would be covered.

I can see it now... Ever taken Wellbutrin (or any of the half dozen other related drugs) to help you stop smoking or lose weight? Wellbutrin is also used for depression, anxiety and to help meth users to kick the habit.

Fast forward ten years when you try to buy a gun and they run a background check on you and you find yourself red-flagged for being mental and/or for being a drug addict.

This probably is coming to America. The 'rats love this kind of stuff. They'll never destroy or anonymize any such records as initially promised, I don't care what they say. We've seen it before. And storage is dirt cheap.

Nameless, faceless bureaucrats with no medical training, gun grabbers, and other assorted facists and wannabes will soon be diagnosing you and making it stick for your whole life.

This data is being entered for about a year in the US.

Smoking will be first crackdown.

US patients are being asked on each trip their alcohol habits.

Then weight will be factored in.

Depression levels will be measured.

Kaiser has been doing all of the above for over a year, and so have most Blues and other HMO/PPOs.

That's nothing. Imagine someone hacking into the system and screwing every enemy
they know of, for life. Once in the system, information would be almost impossible
to remove or change. The possibilities are endless for hackers since every Doc
office will be connected and vital personal information will be there, incl SS.

Instead of incentives for smoking cessation and weight loss, it is financial penalties - or even denial of care like the NHS in the UK does now.

Who pays the piper calls the tune.

When people insist that “the gov’t” “pay” for their health care, the gov’t gets to set the rules. Everything people do - everything - has some impact on their health. By demanding socialized medicine they ceded over all their rights years ago.
