New York Resistance (unSAFE Act - Video)

Posted on 02/01/2013 4:41:14 PM PST by FreedFromNY

Great video. Despite reports to the contrary, not all New Yorkers are liberal. And not all are going to go down without a fight.

Very dangerous times we will be living none too soon.

One of the biggest, if no THE biggest problem, is the MSN has poisoned and numbed the minds of sooooo many people to interpret those of us on the right as “insane”.

Had one of their flock blow up at my shop today. It’s “insane” for me to disagree with him and “unChristian”, in fact, I’m “anti-Christ”. His words.

This video is from the so-called “SAFE” Act informational meeting, this past Monday, 1/29/2013, at the Rochester Public Safety Building. Makes me proud to be an Upstate New Yorker! The tyrants in Albany can try to take our rights away from us and it’s up to us to resist this usurpation of our natural right to keep and bear arms that’s recognized by the law of the land, in the Second Amendment of the US Constitution.

Notice Mike Green saying “We’re here to TELL you what the law says”. What a quisling doing, the bidding of Cuomo!

I grew up about in central NY (about 40 miles southeast of Syracuse) - great people up there (and beautiful countryside)! I ended up moving to Long Island for career opportunities, but even with the ocean, it can never compare with upstate. Believe it or not, there are a lot of gun owners down here & we’re all equally enraged over this legislation. But it doesn’t appear they’re even going to hold a “Q & A” session down here, because as downstate gun owners, we’re completely invisible & totally outnumbered by the sheep. Oh well, we’ll just have to keep traveling up to Albany for the protests.

Correction 2, this video was from the meeting in Clarence, NY, not Rochester.

In my experience, most upstate New Yorkers have more in common with the south and other Red States than they do with NY City or Washington DC.

Sooner or later it has to be decided one way or the other and it will never get easier than right now.

The Last time it began in Boston Harbor - this time it might well be upstate New York.

"Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any band of regular troops that can be, on any pretence, raised in the United States."

Trapped, I’m down here on the Island, too, and I can concur that people here are LIVID over this. I don’t think anybody outside the area knows just how many gun owners live on Long Island.

When I found out that my state Senator voted for this, I was so furious I could have spit.

Regards,

Listen to the questions (and answers) given to the local sheriff at 23:21 of the long video.

His answer mirrors the answers of the policemen of my own acquaintance.

VermiciousKnid - as a Long Islander, you wouldn’t happen to be a member of LIF, would you?

My husband and I are members of several firearms-related organizations, but I am not familiar with LIF. Can you tell me more about it?

LIF is Long Island Firearms (www.longislandfirearms.com). I just became a gun owner a couple of years ago, and I found the site when I was researching how to get my pistol license, etc. It’s an really good site for info on all gun-related (and other outdoor-related) stuff, and if you join as a member, then there’s additional benefits like range meetups, ammo alerts, etc. It’s also become a good source for gun-related political info (as I’m sure all NYS gun organizations have) since the unSAFE Act was hatched. They arranged a bus for the 1/19 Albany protest (and they’re getting another together for the 2/28 one).

I didn’t realize you’re a female gun owner. So am I (and my sister, still upstate, just earned her 1st-level NRA instructor training this past summer.) Now we’re trying to get our other sister to give it a shot (pun intended:-)

You know, I thought LIF might refer to Long Island Firearms. We haven’t joined that one, but I will discuss it with hubby — can’t imagine why we WOULDN’T join, actually.

He’s been telling me for years that I should get a pistol carry permit, but I refuse to get the ones available to me in Suffolk County The only one I would be legally able to get would be meaningless to me. It’s that “sportsman” permit, where I would only be able to carry on the way to or from a gun range. I would have no need to merely carry it to and from a gun range. What the hell good would THAT do me? I’ll tell you what good: Zippety-Do-Dah good.

No, if I’m going to carry, I want to be able to CARRY and not have to answer to anyone about where I’m going or where I’ve been.

I hate NY. Can’t wait to escape.

Regards,

PS: Thanks for the information on LIF, BTW. I appreciate it. And congrats to your sister! What a great accomplishment for her! I’m sure that between the two of you you’ll be able to convince your other sister to “give it a shot!”

I agree with the stupidity of the LI pistol licenses. It infuriates me that I can only carry to & from the range (especially after waiting 38 weeks for the darn thing in the first place). What good does that do me? My upstate sister, on the other hand, has full carry (as we all should) - so if she were to visit me on Long Island, she’s able to carry here while I still can’t. I still love shooting my pistols, though, so it was worth it to me to get the license.

I love photography & used to enjoy going to the arboretum & beach during the off season to take pics (especially early in the morning, when no one else is around). But once those bodies started popping up along the south shore beaches a couple of years ago, I realized just how vulnerable I am out there - so I’ve given up those early morning photography walks. If I could carry, it would even the odds - but my life is apparently not as valuable as Bloomberg’s or the other “favored ones”.

My husband & I are trying to get out of NY by the end of the year. We’ve had it. (To get us through the interim, we just completed the Utah Concealed Carry course, so we can at least carry in a number of other states - not just our own.)

Best of luck to you on your house search. We’re stuck here for a few more years, but I suspect it will be sooner than either of us imagined.

My hubby’s LEO colleagues want me to challenge the carry laws here (in court). If I didn’t have a house to run, a kid to homeschool, and another one in Catholic high school to shuffle around, I’d consider it. But the thought of the YEARS it would take to wind its way through the system makes my head hurt. When would I have time to fold LAUNDRY? LOL

I think I’ll just wait until we can get the heck out of here, and then I won’t have to deal with idiot NY pols anymore.

Regards,

PS: Let me know what state you end up in; we’re always on the lookout for good places to relocate.

How do you apply for a Utah Concealed carry permit, living in another state? I live in MN with a Permit to Carry, and would like to get a Utah Concealed Carry permit as well?

IIRC when Hillary ran for Senate she only carried three counties in the State outside of NYC and the Island.
We are far from a liberal State outside the big apple cesspool

It’s a nonresident Utah concealed carry, which means that you are allowed to carry if you’re in Utah (understanding that you’re bound by the Utah laws when you’re there). The license includes reciprocity with a number of other states, as do most licenses - in fact, with a MN carry license, you may already have more reciprocity than you realize.

The problem for those of us in NY is — NY doesn’t really play nice with other states. And downstate NY doesn’t even play nice with upstate NY. This whole place is dysfunctional. So despite the fact that I’ve completed numerous firearm courses here, without the Utah (or similar) license, I have no reciprocity anywhere.

The Utah license requires the completion of a Utah-specific training course (which must be taught by an instructor certified by the state of Utah to provide the course). Fingerprints are required, of course, for a background check. If you’re interested, you can probably do a search in your area for an instructor. But again, it might not even be necessary in your case - you should look into what states you already have reciprocity with first.

For me, I’m thinking it’ll help when I finally escape from NY, provided I move to one of the states with the Utah reciprocity. Another advantage is for people who travel a lot - there was a couple in our class who had just retired. They were selling their home & then planning to travel the country in an RV. They wanted to keep their handguns for protection, and having that license means that they’ll be able to carry in quite a few of the states that they might wind up in.
