I was close, though, but EARLY 1946 was exempted?
“...but EARLY 1946 was exempted?”
Well.... V-J Day was in August 1945 & the troops started coming home in droves. And recall that old, old joke:
“When is Mother’s Day? Nine months after Father’s Day!” (badabing!)
Anyone born in early 1946 was conceived when the war was still on. Johnny came home on leave & made whoopee but then went back to war. After August ‘45, millions of discharged veterans went home & started doing their thing. By the late summer of 1946, the baby boom had begun in earnest.
