Calling All Free Republic Baby Boomers (Born 1946 to 1964)
US Census ^ | 1 Feb 13 | Xzins

Posted on 02/01/2013 5:18:02 AM PST by xzins

The US Census Bureau, in "The Older Population" indicates that Baby Boomers are defined as follows:

6 The Baby Boom includes people born from mid-1946 to 1964. The Baby Boom is distinguished by a dramatic increase in birth rates following World War II, and is one of the largest generations in U.S. history. For more information, see: Hogan, Perez, and Bell, 2008, Who (Really) Are the First Baby Boomers? In Joint Statistical Meetings Proceedings, Social Statistics Section, Alexandria, VA: American Statistical Association, pp. 1009–1016.

You are now from about 50 to 67 years old, and you are the glad result of WWII and Korean Era parents celebrating an advancing America. You saw the origin of television, the advent of the space program, the determination of the cold war, the fear of nuclear holocaust, the change from slide rules to calculators, the dawn of the computer age, and the wonder of worldwide, at-your-fingertips communication.

You've also seen the nation spiral from a moral beacon of personal and political freedom to the chaos of dependency, distraction, and self-indulgence that defines our entitlement society.

What is your prescription for this America?

What will this nation look like in the year 2030?

Why are you a member/user of Free Republic? How does your being here advance your concerns for your nation?

Lafroste, some people call your generation the lost generation that fell between the baby boomer hippies and the generation X yuppies.

I loved being at the front of the yuppie wave and coming of age in the 80’s, it was a magical time similar to the 50’s in my opinion.

Born in 1959.

The way this country will be able to get back on track is to turn back to GOD.

My prescription for this America? I can only fix my own life. Understand that relying on government for anything is futile. Avoiding mainstream media = avoiding nausea.

What will this nation look like in the year 2030? By then the radicals of 60s and 70s will be so old that they won’t be able to maintain power. The real problems began when Hillary “Yoko” Clinton took power 20 years ago. She and her husband Elvis basically kicked down all the existing standards of decency, to the delight and applause of our Tiger Beat media. Once the Clintons and the Obamas and let’s face it, the Bushs, shuffle off the stage for good, we can only hope that some charming conservative born in about 1990, who grew up listening to Rush Limbaugh, steps up and takes power. That person is about 23 right now. Let the grooming begin!

Why are you a member/user of Free Republic? I basically have one source for news (Drudge) and one source for opinion, (Free Republic). I check them both probably once an hour.

How does your being here advance your concerns for your nation? Being here doesn’t advance my concerns. I helps me stay sane because I don’t feel so all alone. Many of my peers get their news and opinion from the New York Times and the Daily Show. It’s funny, I think they’re stupid and they think I’m stupid. But anyway, at FR, I find a bunch of like-minded peers.

I was born in 1960 and am a FReeper to keep in touch with fellow conservatives who are few and far between in New York State - even though I live upstate. If it weren’t for FR I would have no other conservatives to talk to except my husband and sister in law.

The solution - term limits for all politicians.

Born 1957
Good question. Thank you.

I am so glad this world is not my home...but I am very sad about this country and the encroachment of the shadow of Mordor. (Evil in the culture)

My prescription? Politicians come and go...our salvation does not come from that direction. Do the right thing. Vote and promote your candidate. But know that the only thing that really changes people is prayer and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

I take comfort knowing God is in control...but I am under no illusions here. He was in control during Egyptian, Babylonian, Assyrian and Roman captivity. Pray and trust. His will is perfect.

Correction - Actually my 20 something daughters are also conservative - thank GOD!! they are bucking the trend - nearly ALL of their peers have drunk the liberal Kool Aid- it is downright to scary to see how brainwashed their generation is - this includes all of my nieces and nephews.

Good morning. I hope you are doing well.

What is your prescription for this America?

Hit the reset button.

What will this nation look like in the year 2030?

If I make it that long, not good. Probably like Zimbabwe.

Why are you a member/user of Free Republic?

Used to be activism. Not so much anymore. Although now, I have a ton of FRiends.

(BB here) Things will turn around in this country when the Boomers finally die off. My generation - those who still are living and implementing the 1960s Utopian Vision - has wreaked a lot of havoc in its short decades. Shacking up, the pill, abortion, broken families; Social Justice & Liberation Theology in the Catholic Church; feminism, gay marriage, metrosexuality - these are just a few of the anti-traditions this generation has embraced.

The Greatest Generation it is not, but rather the most self-indulgent and narcissistic in a good long time.

Born close to 1957. Raised by people who wouldn’t vote Republican if s/he was the last human standing. They have lost their minds.

Live in a liberal city in the suburbs. Feel outnumbered. Have dealt with so many evil liars, you wouldn’t believe it. crazy people too. I have believed I must have been a shrink in a past life.. Have no use whatsoever for shrinks having understood for years that mental illness is an absence of good in a person and is a manifestation of evil.

The answer is to shun the evil. Make no compromise. If your neighbor is a sinner, shun him. If you say “we are all sinners” that is true but if you know someone is a liar, thief, dishonest, murderer, abortion supporter, or committing sexual sin shun them. Band together with those who profess and follow God. Work to help each other.

It’s hard to read because F.R. auto corrects, not allowing double space between words.

>>>”If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land”. >>>

Beautiful quote. I agree.

And, according to the Bible, it’s never too late to repent..

A growing segment of the younger generation is seeing the perils of central planning and control. Support that movement. Perhaps a turn around has begun with it. I don’t see significant numbers of minds being changed among us boomers. The hope of the republic lies in the young.

Remember that the boomer generation now is in “retirement” mode. Its power is getting less.
