Economy Shrinking, Debt Soaring, And Obama's Talking..."God, Guns and Gays?"
Boston Herald ^ | February 1, 2013 | Michael Graham

Posted on 02/01/2013 4:10:45 AM PST by suspects

Our weak economy is stumbling yet again. America’s GDP actually shrank during the last three months of 2012, after three years of Obama’s “recovery.” Jobless claims jumped last week “unexpectedly.” And a new report says our national debt will soon be 200 percent of our entire national output — or twice as high as that of Greece.

Since the inauguration, what have President Obama and the White House been talking about? Jobs, the economy and debt?

Nope.

It’s been gun control, same-sex marriage, women in combat and illegal immigration.

I’m so old I remember when campaigning on divisive wedge issues was a bad thing.

Do you go to bed at night worrying about high-capacity magazines for guns, or doing more to make it easier for illegal immigrants to stay in America?

Not me. I’m out looking for a job; I’m trying to figure out how I’m ever going to pay Gov. Deval Patrick’s proposed new income tax hike and the health costs driven up by Obamacare.

Meanwhile, this economy that Obama and the Democrats have pumped trillions of borrowed Chinese dollars into for “stimulus” and Solyndra-style green jobs is shrinking, not growing.

Nancy Pelosi promised us that unemployment checks “create jobs faster than any other initiative you can name.” Well, we spent three years extending benefits, and the percentage of able-bodied adults in the workforce is smaller today than when Obama took office. That’s part of the reason household incomes are still lower, not higher.

Falling incomes, a crappy economy, not enough decent-paying jobs. An economy that’s fallen into negative growth, while debt is exploding. Isn’t this the point in the movie where someone shouts in terror “We’ve got to do something!”

But what’s Obama doing? He’s shutting down...

I don’t know why the Jobless rate was unecpected. Doesn’;t it always jump when stores let off their Christmas help?

Typical bait & switch. You can’t fix the economy, unemployment is high, news shows it’s getting worse so change the subject.

“I don’t know why the Jobless rate was unecpected. Doesn’;t it always jump when stores let off their Christmas help?”

The first time unemployment report that is quoted in the media is seasonally-adjusted. Therefore, it takes into consideration seasonal hiring and termination events.

Nevertheless, your point is well taken. The 4Q12 GDP figures released earlier in the week were actually quite good. Only the headline was negative by virtue of the fact that government spending and corporate inventory accumulation were down. But the important things — consumer behavior, fixed investment in plant, equipment and software and residential construction — were surprisingly robust, booming in fact.

This was great news for free market oriented conservatives. The real economy grew even though government spending declined, a cause and effect that the Left Keynesians would deny is possible.

Clearly, the economy needs less government spending (i.e. waste) in order to make room for more private economic activity. Let us hope this trend continues and that our lackluster leaders on the Right grasp the issue correctly and capitalize on it.

Unleash Paul Ryan from the small, dark cell that the soap salesmen of the Romney campaign locked him in. We have tangible evidence of the benefits of freedom to point to, even in 2013! Let our voices be heard.

Last year, the unemployment rate went up “unexpectedly” because it “unexpectedly” snowed in January. I kid you not. That was the excuse.

None of the visible problems outlined in this article of Michael Graham’s is anything more than an expected inconvenience by the Obamagang leadership as they declaw, and defang the only source of resistance to their Communist approved New World Order.

It’s a war we are losing, because we don’t realize our leadership is not ours, but is wholly theirs.

Go to WalMart and pick up anything you choose and 99% of the time it will be from China or some other country. Very little will ay “Made in USA”.

And the DOW is jumping again because jobs are doing so gloriously. I have no idea if I should get back in or stay out, but I have to stay out because not earning anything is better than losing half of it for a third time.

At least we had another bumper EBT harvest.

As long as the Obamateriate remains fed all will be well with the regime’s long march to oligarchy.

It’s not only Walmart. China crap is in every store in some degree. It’s sickening!
It’s crap. Clothes are thin, small, almost non-washable because it will fall apart. What it’s made from, who knows.

We have standards we have to adhere to but other countries get a pass.
Because they don’t check every shipment coming in, any shipment that is turned back, they will ship again and again until it gets through.

Unemployment? How could that be. Let’s see. We are a consumer nation and we have shipped all of our manufacturing base overseas. We don’t make hardly anything that we consume. From the liberal mindset that just doesn’t make sense that we aren’t creating jobs. Besides we are a rich nation and we can afford to help those poor chinese people. (If they keep lending us our own money back).

I wonder what happened to Indiana. Things are pretty conservative except in the middle and the northwest and southwest corners.

Oh well, I still want to move to Montana, just can't find a job up there.
