Ted Cruz uses pistol grip to rebut call for assault weapon ban
Dallas Morning News ^ | 30 January 2013 | TODD J. GILLMAN

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz displayed a flair for showmanship this afternoon at the Senate’s gun violence hearing as he sought to puncture the argument for a proposed ban on assault weapons.

“What it bans, I would suggest to you, are scary looking guns,” he said.

With a life size photo of a Remington 750, a popular hunting rifle used — as Cruz said, by millions of Americans – the senator argued that the proposed ban focuses on “cosmetic features” such as pistol grips that in no way change the lethality of a weapon.

He produced a plastic pistol grip and held it to the photo to demonstrate...

Yep, that's her..Handmaiden of the girlie girls..

Well, I'd like to dial me up some of that Texas girly-girl ..... especially one that likes to clean, heck, I'd let her shoot my big rifles if she'd do that. And drive my car. And ... and ... quick, what else do they like to do? Movies? Chocolates? Ammo?

remember the audience is leaky leahy, turbin durbin, and the communist media of pMSNBC types.

It also shows david gregory for a fool since the picture did the job so much better.

No I’m referring to a possible primary challenge to Cornyn. I’m imploring you guys not to back a dolt like Akin or Mourdock who will walk right into a media trap and say something stupid about rape.

I’m not familiar with Clayton Williams, but yes, it may have been better had he defeated Richards. Maybe then George W wouldn’t have found his way to the presidency.

So far I like Cruz very much. He’s great on the Second Amendment, and he’s been vocal in opposing the latest amnesty effort.

I believe (not suree though) he said or indicated during the campaign last year that he supports ending chain migration and abolishing the absurd Diversity Visa program. If so, then I hope he tries to make that part of the discussion, as I think both would be popular with the public.

Yes, Clayton W. Williams would have savced us from both Ann W. Richards and GWB. They all have “W” middle initials.

I'm pretty sure you are right that they were both the objects of propaganda stunts run by Enemedia at the direction of Axelgrease and Company.

The GOP used to give candidates some grounding on "what not to do", but now GOP candidates need black belts in media aikido; but people like Rove want most of us to do nothing but GO AWAYs, and conservative candidates to fail.

The problem is, that 750 has a pistol grip, AS DEFINED BY THE BILL. That is: ‘a grip, a thumb-hole stock, or any other characteristic that can function as a grip.’. It clearly has a pistol grip type stock, but even a straight stock would likely qualify, since you have to hold on to the thing somewhere.

That’s actually not a pistol-grip if it is in front of the trigger guard.

Fineswine has got that covered, she would also count "forward grips" as a qualifying (to be banned) feature.

Basically her bill would ban all semi-auto rifles and shotguns, save .22 LR with tubular magazines. Even my 10/22 would be banned.

She can come kiss my ass and (try to) get it.

Cornyn is a well-connected one-worlder.

The Dept Homeland Security just bought 7000 semi-auto AR-15s

Actually they wish to buy 7000 select fire,, not semi-auto only, weapons in 5.56x45, but they are saying they are suitable for personal defense. they might not end up with AR-15s, since there are other weapons that would satisfy the requirements as well, such as the FN SCAR.

DHS RFP from June 2012

FN SCAR

But of course the point remains. If it's OK for them to have for Personal Defense, why not the kulaks?. The answer is also obvious, it would make it so much more difficult to take our stuff when the time comes.

So full auto AR15s when they own them are NOT “assault rifles”... Only civilian-owned semi-auto rifles can be “assault rifles”.

Not quite, assault rifles are full auto capable intermediate power rifles, intermediate between pistol caliber submachine guns and full power Battle Rifles (M14, FN/FAL, G3, etc). Assault weapons would be semi-auto only and would even include shotguns and handguns. But in reality assault weapons are whatever guns they think they can get away with banning ... this year. Next year the definition may change again, or they may go after "sniper rifles" next.

Does Sen Feinstein know about this?

Apparently not, since she specifically exempted .22 rimfire rifles with fixed tubular magazines, even if they can hold more than 10 evil baby poisoning lead bullets.

BTW, a Nylon 66 in Seneca green was the first rifle I ever fired. My great uncle had bought two of them for my 3rd cousins, who lived on a farmstead. Although they did not farm the land, they could and did roam all over it, including a very nice little wooded creek, where we would use the one that was scoped to shoot at water skimmers.

Now if it had been a nearly identical Nylon 77, which had a removable box magazine, and was never popular, it would be banned under FineSwine's bill.

Well, WHATEVER they are, full or semi, by THEIR OWN use of that specific nomenclature (Thank you, Big Sis Napolitano) they’ve now been magically transformed into “Personal Defense Rifles”.

So mine are too. From now on, that’s the only way I’ll refer to them.

Don’t care whether it’s an AR15, FAL, AK, M14, G3, SuperBlahBangodiddly MkIV in Bazazz Caliber...it’s now a Personal Defense Rifle.

Compliments of Big Sis.
