Kaufman County (30 mi. east of Dallas) Judge calls shooting an 'ambush' (prosecutor gunned down)

A Kaufman County assistant district attorney was shot dead outside the courthouse Thursday, spurring a complete lockdown of the grounds and an active search for the two shooters.

Kaufman County Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Pat Laney said the suspects ambushed the assistant DA on his way in to court and shot him multiple times in a parking lot at about 8:50 a.m. They then fled the scene. The courthouse was locked down and later closed for the day.

County Judge Bruce Wood confirmed the victim's identity, however his family has not been notified. Wood told News 8's Jonathan Betz that the victim was not working on any high-profile cases that would've required any extra security. Investigators are following up on his caseload, however.

Wood told Betz that courthouse security is always tight, but not in the parking lot. He classified the shooting as an "ambush."

Gun free zone? Why do we keep blaming the inanimate object and not the actual law breaker?

“...not working on any high-profile cases...”

My guess would be drug related regardless of denials, maybe even a Mexican cartel hit on Texas soil. And, there’s always the triangle possibility.

The question to be answered is, “Who would most benefit from this man’s death?”........

In 1941, U.S. Attorney General Robert Jackson called on Congress to enact national registration of all firearms. Given events in Europe, Congress recoiled, and legislation was introduced to protect the Second Amendment. Rep. Edwin Arthur Hall explained: "Before the advent of Hitler or Stalin, who took power from the German and Russian people, measures were thrust upon the free legislatures of those countries to deprive the people of the possession and use of firearms, so that they could not resist the encroachments of such diabolical and vitriolic state police organizations as the Gestapo, the Ogpu, and the Cheka."

Rep. John W. Patman added: "The people have a right to keep arms; therefore, if we should have some Executive who attempted to set himself up as dictator or king, the people can organize themselves together and, with the arms and ammunition they have, they can properly protect themselves. . . ."

This screams drug hit and while I agree that there is a definite head in the sand approach to Mexican drug violence spillover, Ayrians do run a lot of meth.

Gulf Cartel or their allies, Eric Holder’s buddies.

Texas did something bad to a NarcoTrafficker, and THIS is how they communicate.

Can I assume their kids will be performing at the Super Bowl? It’s late notice and all, but surely with the full backing of the WH they can be squeezed in.

Read the story elsewhere this evening. Interesting. Don’t have too many prosecutors getting hit over the years. This is fairly new.
